Fans are missing the legendary Carrie Fisher after six years, her passing still seeming like it was just yesterday for some. Beloved for her popular role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, Fisher passed away on Dec. 27, 2016, when she was just 60 years old. The following day, her mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, also died at 84 after suffering a stroke while grieving. It was all a very sad sequence of events that still has fans in mourning on the sixth anniversary of Fisher’s death.

“6 years today,” tweets one fan, using the trending #CarrieOnForever hashtag to remember the icon. “Carrie was a legend in so many ways, and Princess Leia will always live on in our hearts.”

Billie Lourd Pays Tribute

Billie Lourd, Fisher’s daughter, has also posted a tribute for her late mother on Instagram. Sharing an image of herself alongside Fisher from many years ago, Lourd speaks about how she continues to mourn the loss, wishing her mom could be here to meet her newest grandchild. But Lourd promises to keep Fisher’s memory alive by telling her children stories about her, and for others who’ve been similarly dealing with loss, Lourd also wants them to know that they are not alone. Her Instagram post reads:

The world certainly lost someone special with the passing of Carrie Fisher, with those closest to her feeling the pain most of all. But it’s just as clear that Fisher will never be forgotten, given how much she is still loved and fondly remembered by so many. May she rest in peace.
