New Constantine rumors suggest that Sope Dirisu is up for the lead role in an HBO Max series adaptation. According to a new report by The Illuminerdi, the Gangs of London star is being eyed to star in the series, though this hasn’t been confirmed by Warner Bros. or HBO Max. A rumored logline was also published for the series, written by UK author Guy Bolton, which you can look at below as well.
Reportedly, production will start this fall and run into early 2023, which could suggest a release date on HBO for later next year. An additional report from Knight Edge Media also sheds some details on other characters the series is looking to cast. Though also unconfirmed officially, the site notes that a Constantine casting call is looking to hold auditions for Akara, a 10-year-old Cambodian girl who’s the “emotional heart” of the story. Pich, a 60+ Cambodian male and Akara’s grandfather, was also listed on the call sheet. He is “at times stunningly strong despite his age.”
“The series blends urban action, body horror, and the supernatural on the streets of modern-day London. It follows a young man whose entire world is upended when a chance encounter with a young girl pulls him into the dark and treacherous world of the occult.”

Does the Constantine Series Put Constantine 2 on Ice?
Warner Bros. Pictures
Many fans might wonder if progress on a new live-action Constantine reboot series might mean that a Constantine 2 film won’t be happening anytime soon. For years, fans have called for Keanu Reeves to return for a new Constantine film, especially after the movie has only grown in popularity in the years after its original release. Even Reeves has said he wants this to happen, previously explaining how he’s personally put in the efforts to try and get it made. He told Esquire last year:
As we have seen in both the MCU and DCEU in recent years, it’s more than possible to have different incarnations of the same characters in separate movies/shows going on at the same time. If it’s good enough for Batman, why could it not apply to Constantine? With that said, it doesn’t seem that there are any plans in motion at this time for Constantine 2, but perhaps that will change if this series turns out to be a hit.
“I love playing Constantine. John Constantine. I’ve played a lot of Johns. How many Johns have I played? I don’t even know. I think it’s over ten. But anyway, I’d love to have the chance to play Constantine again.”
