Warner Bros. has unveiled a brand new look at their upcoming animated feature Batman: Hush. This is just the latest in a very long line of generally well-regarded animated DC adaptations, but this one is bringing on of the Caped Crusader’s most beloved and important stories ever to life. The project was first announced last year at San Diego Comic-Con, which makes it all the more fitting that this latest sneak peek also comes from the hallowed grounds of SDCC.

The comic book story that this particular movie is based on has gone on to earn its place alongside other classic Batman tales such as The Killing Joke and The Dark Knight Returns as one of the greatest in his 80-year history. The story was originally published starting in December 2002 in the main Batman ongoing title in DC comics at the time. Legendary comic book writer Jeph Loeb cooked up the story, which features art from the equally legendary Jim Lee. It’s notable for many reasons, but one of the big hooks is that it includes many of the biggest villains from Batman’s massive rogues gallery.

The cast for the movie is stacked from top to bottom. It includes Jason O’Mara as Batman, Jennifer Morrison as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Rainn Wilson as Lex Luthor, Stuart Allan as Damian Wayne, Maury Sterling as Thomas Elliot, Geoffrey Arend as Riddler, Vanessa Williams as Amanda Waller, Jason Spisak as Joker, Adam Gifford as Bane, Dachie Alessio as Lady Shiva, with Peyton List as Batgirl and Poison Ivy. Rounding out the voice ensemble is James Garrett as Alfred, Jerry O’Connell as Superman, Rebecca Romijn as Lois Lane, Sean Maher as Nightwing and Bruce Thomas as Jim Gordon. Last but not least, Tara Strong, known for her work as the voice of Harley Quinn, is on board.

Batman: Hush centers on a new, mysterious and shadowy villain known simply as Hush. This new baddie employs Gotham City’s massive lineup of criminals and ne’er-do-wells to destroy Bruce Wayne’s career as a masked, crime-fighting vigilante, as well as his personal life. That part of his day to day has already been complicated as of late, given his relationship with Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman.

This also comes just ahead of the movie’s actual, physical release. Batman: Hush to arrive on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Combo Pack starting on August 6. Those who want to get in on the action sooner can pick it up on Digital HD starting July 20. DC Universe subscribers will be able to stream the movie as well. In addition to this latest footage, Warner Bros. also held the premiere of the DC Comics feature at San Diego Comic-Con, which has become something of a tradition for the animated movies.

Justin Copeland is in the director’s chair for the adaptation. Ernie Altbacker penned the screenplay. Be sure to check out the preview of Batman: Hush from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment for yourself.
