Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves recently released its first trailer, and it looks much better than the last D&D movie in the year 2000. With things like this and the existence of actual play shows like Critical Role, D&D is becoming more mainstream. If Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves ends up being a success, it could open the door to many more potential D&D settings or other tabletop role-play games (TTRPG) becoming on-screen franchises....

Nominations for the 84th Annual Academy Awards were announced today (Tuesday, January 24) by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak and 2010 Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence. Hugo lead the pack with 11 nominations, while The Artist is close behind with 10 nominations. The Artist is also nominated in all five of the major categories (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress). Moneyball and War Horse landed six nominations apiece....

Paramount Pictures has revealed another Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull poster over at USA Today, in lieu of this week’s ShoWest convention. Take a look: The new poster for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the CrystalSkull confirms something alien is afoot. The first poster for the film (due May 22) featured part of the title relic, but there was always something odd about the eye socket....

ABC has been enjoying success with its new Wednesday-night comedy block and it seems that all three will be back for a second season. According to Variety, ABC is expected to announce second-season renewals for its hit freshman comedies Modern Family, The Middle and Cougar Town at the TCA press tour today. The network debuted the shows this fall, along with newcomer Hank that was canceled before midseason, and the three that survived have been outperforming last year’s Wednesday night shows Pushing Daisies and Private Practice....

Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman will produce the 82nd Academy Awards telecast, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak announced today. This will be the first major Oscar show involvement for both men. “I couldn’t be happier to have this talented team on board,” said Sherak. “I’ve known Bill for many years so it’s like putting Oscar in the care of a dear friend. Bill has a tremendous love and respect of film and will draw from his vast experience as a producer, a studio executive and a film historian to help make this year’s Oscar telecast a memorable one....

Michael Langdon (aka The Antichrist) performs the Seven Wonder becoming the first Male Supreme setting into motion the inevitable American Horror Story: Apocalypse. Like last week’s episode, “Boy Wonder” takes place in the past (pre-Nuclear Winter), starting immediately where we left off. When Cordelia Goode (Sarah Paulson) fainted at the sight of Michael Langdon (Cody Fern) with Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts) and Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe), she had a vision of the apocalyptic wasteland of the future....

AMC’s The Lives of the Mayfair Witches series has taken a big step forward by casting Alexandra Daddario as its lead star. Variety reports the live-action series, based on the Anne Rice novels of the same name, is written and executive produced by Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford, with Spalding serving as showrunner. The first officially-announced cast member, Daddario will reportedly star as Rowan, a “brilliant doctor who grapples with her fate as the heir to a family of powerful witches....

Makeup brand Milani Cosmetics wants to set the record straight. This week, the defamation trial involving Amber Heard and Johnny Depp continued. Depp is suing Heard for allegedly defaming him by describing herself as a victim of domestic violence in a 2018 op-ed written for The Washington Post. The actor is seeking $50 million in damages, claiming he was the one abused and that the allegations had cost him lucrative movie roles....

Ever since American Horror Story premiered on FX back in 2011, the show has debuted its new seasons in October, which makes sense given the show’s proximity to the Halloween holiday. This year, FX decided to change things up a bit, issuing a September 14 premiere date. With the show coming to the small screen a bit earlier, that means the first trailers have arrived earlier as well, with FX debuting six brief teasers today....

Hathaway still hasn’t confirmed her involvement in the upcoming film, but hopes remain high that audiences will see what Mia Thermopolis is up to now. Anton Yelchin, one of the stars of Terminator Salvation, has just denied the rumor that he was cast in the lead role of Green Lantern. Yelchin spoke to SCI FI Wire about the rumor while at Wonder-Con in San Francisco, CA. “I had no idea about that,” Yelchin said while discussing Terminator Salvation, where he plays the role of a young Kyle Reese....

The CW has released a new trailer for Riverdale Season 2, which teases a dangerous war brewing in the once-sleepy town.
