The first trailer for Black Adam brings Hollywood superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson into the DC cinematic universe. Finally. After years of waiting, Warner Bros. Pictures has at last debuted The Rock as the comic book antihero, with the actor promising that the hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change. Black Adam will introduce audiences to one of DC’s most popular characters. Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world....

With all of the major networks hosting their upfront presentations next week, many are already getting a head start, issuing series orders from their pilot slate. The CW is one such network, announcing today it has issued a series order for their highly-anticipated Black Lightning series, although it hasn’t been announced if the show will arrive this fall, or if it will be held for a mid-season debut. This show marks the fifth DC Comics series from producer Greg Berlanti, following Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl, the later of which moved to The CW last season after debuting on CBS....

The Classification and Rating Appeals Board today overturned the NC-17 rating given to the movie Blue Valentine. The Classification and Rating Administration (CARA) had assigned the movie the NC-17 rating for “a scene of explicit sexual content.” The film is now rated R, on appeal, for “strong graphic sexual content, language, and a beating.” In the appeal brought by The Weinstein Company, the Appeals Board heard statements on behalf of Blue Valentine from Harvey Weinstein, Co-Chairman of The Weinstein Company, and Alan Friedman, Counsel to The Weinstein Company....

The comedic helmer talks about his latest DVD, the writers strike and The Three Stooges remake Bobby Farrelly, along with his brother Peter, have become comedic icons, staring with their amazing debut film, Dumb and Dumber. The Farrelly’s latest film, The Heartbreak Kid, which took in more than $110 million worldwide, comes to DVD on December 23. I had the privelege of speaking to the comic filmmaker over the phone, and he had plenty to say about his new film and much more....

Batgirl villain Firefly has been teased in a number of set photos, but the latest image finally gives a good full look at his costume. Brendan Fraser was announced to be playing the villain of the HBO Max movie last year, with several images of the actor on set having been posted on social media in his regular attire. Still, everyone has been eager to get a look at what he is going to look like in his full Firefly suit....

The first image of Brendan Fraser as a 600-pound man in the upcoming movie The Whale took the internet by storm this week. Having spent many years being sidelined in Hollywood, Fraser is having the kind of movie comeback that many never get the chance of, and his fans are massively in support of it. However, his appearance in Darren Aronofsky’s movie has divided some over the use of prosthetics and a fat suit to bring the character to life on screen....

Bruce Willis’ new film Cop Out hits theaters nationwide on February 26 and the actor has been out doing the press rounds for the film, which, of course, leads to talk of what’s next for the actor. Willis recently told MTV that plans seem to be in the works for Die Hard 5. “I think we’re going to do a Die Hard 5 next year,” Willis told the site. He also added that he would like to see an international feel to the new film....

After Nicholas Hoult nabbed the demanding role of Beast in X-Men: First Class, he caught the eye of that film’s producer, Bryan Singer, and made a strong enough impression that Singer cast him as the lead in his next film Jack the Giant Killer. PBS announced today that a special holiday episode of the critically acclaimed British drama Call the Midwife will air Sunday, December 30, 2012, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. ET on PBS. Call the Midwife Holiday Special will pave the way for Season 2 of the hit drama, which returns to PBS beginning March 31 for a full run. As the nurses, nuns and community members come together this holiday season, nothing rings more true in Poplar than the virtues of charity and hope....

With Marvel’s The Avengers set to invade theaters in just over one month, Marvel Studios is readying their post-Avengers projects, one of which being Captain America 2. Directors George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau), F. Gary Gray (Friday; The Italian Job), and, surprisingly, Community directors/executive producers Joe Russo and Anthony Russo are on the short list to helm this superhero sequel. While it may seem odd to have a pair of sitcom directors in the mix for a big-budget adventure, an insider reveals the Russo brothers made a good first impression with Marvel Studios’ president of production, Kevin Feige....

The Batman won’t be released in Russia. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the anticipated superhero film has been pulled from its Russian release in the 11th hour, following speculation that the movie would move forward as scheduled given the difficulties in pulling the film this close to release. The news comes after Russia’s recent invasion of Ukraine and follows Disney similarly pulling its upcoming releases in Russia. “In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film The Batman in Russia,” a WarnerMedia spokesperson said, confirming the company’s plans to pull the film despite how close it was to its premiere....

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today the television and motion picture nominations for the 2011 Producers Guild Awards. The three Producers Guild Awards categories for film include: The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures; The Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures; and The Award for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Theatrical Motion Pictures. While you still have to wait until January for the seventh season of 24, you can catch a new Jack Bauer adventure on DVD this November. 24: Exile will be released on DVD on November 25th, just two days after the two-hour TV movie will air on Fox. It’s difficult not to be touched by the wholesome British LGBTQ+ teen drama Heartstopper that recently premiered on Netflix on April 22. Based on the beloved YA graphic novel of the same name by Alice Oseman, Heartstopper tells the story of a recently outed social outcast named Charlie (Joe Locke) on his path towards finding love with one of his school’s rugby players, Nick (Kit Connor), who’s apparently straight. The Netflix series was highly anticipated by fans of Oseman’s novel series, and, immediately, audiences were hooked on and hopeful for Charlie and Nick’s innocent love story....

This show is like a cat. It keeps coming back.
