Amsterdam is loosely based on a true story, following three friends in the 1930s who witnessed a murder, and after being framed for it, they become the prime suspects in the case. David O. Now that the cost-cutting cull of television shows is over, Warner Bros. Discovery is looking to bring Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl to new audiences by simulcasting the annual live-action TV event across its linear networks and streaming platforms from both sides of the merged company, according to a report from Deadline. Moving forward, the Puppy Bowl will run on its home network, Animal Planet, where the fan-favorite event has been airing for the past 19 years, and on TBS, Discovery Channel, and the soon-to-be merged HBO Max and Discovery+....

In response to the ratings given to two of its upcoming films, The Weinstein Company (TWC) announced today that it has engaged a formidable legal team to challenge the NC-17 rating for Blue Valentine and the R rating for The King’s Speech given by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), according to TWC Co-Chair Harvey Weinstein. “While we respect the MPAA, I think we can all agree that we are living with an outdated ratings system that gives torture porn, horror and ultraviolent films the same rating as films with so-called inappropriate language,” explains Weinstein....

It has been revealed that Sam Mendes is planning a massive action sequence for Bond 23 that will see Daniel Craig doing his own stunts on a freight train. The director was ready to shoot this set piece in India early next year, but the local railways have not yet given him permission to block the tracks for what could be a week’s time. Sam Mendes was going to shoot in Ahmedabad and Goa, but now there is talk of moving the production to South Africa....

Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Broker received a 12-minute standing ovation following its premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, NME reports. The first Korean-language project from the Japanese filmmaker, Broker beat out Park Chan-wook’s 2009 Thirst for the title of longest-ever standing ovation for a Korean film at the festival. According to Korean news outlet EDaily, the rousing standing ovation began with Cannes Film Festival executive director Thierry Frémaux. The film’s director and main cast—Song Kang-ho (Parasite), singer and actress Lee Ji-eun, Gang Dong-won (Peninsula), and Bae Doo-na (Sense8)—were in attendance for the overwhelmingly positive reception....
