The first trailer for director Brian De Palma’s thriller The Black Dahlia is now available for viewing HERE at Yahoo! Movies. The film will be released on September 16 and stars Josh Hartnett, Scarlett Johansson, Aaron Eckhart, Mia Kirshner and Hilary Swank. The Black Dahlia weaves a fictionalized tale of obsession, love, corruption, greed and depravity around the true story of the brutal murder of a fledgling Hollywood starlet that shocked and fascinated the nation in 1947 and remains unsolved today....

The upcoming post-apocalypse prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, has added Hereditary star Alex Wolff to proceedings. ABC has renewed Quinta Brunson’s hit comedy Abbott Elementary for a third season as the network continues to make its way through the 2023 Winter Press Tour. As the series nears the halfway mark of Season 2, viewers have already been treated to an Emmy Award-winning first season and, more recently, three Golden Globe wins at this year’s show. When Abbott Elementary premiered in 2021, it was immediately praised for its fresh, creative take on the traditional sitcom format....

Amber Tamblyn is set to star in CBS’ drama pilot Babylon Fields. The show is an apocalyptic comedic drama about the dead being resurrected and trying to resume their former lives. The Hollywood Reporter says Tamblyn will play a young woman who, after being abused by her father, teamed with her mom to kill him only to see him come back. Krista Allen has come aboard NBC’s comedy pilot Business Class; it chronicles the adventures of two high-powered soda salesmen (Horatio Sanz, Mark Valley)....

Starz announced today that the highly-anticipated eight-episode first season of FremantleMedia North America produced STARZ Original Series American Gods, adapted from Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed contemporary fantasy novel, will make its network premiere on Sunday, April 30th at 9PM ET/PT. Starz also debuted the U.S. key art. Both announcements come ahead of the World Premiere and extended Q&A of the series at SXSW in March. The series will debut publicly at the festival on March 11 at 11 AM CT at the Vimeo Theater in the Austin Convention Center followed by an extended Q&A moderated by KCRW’s Elvis Mitchell....

The CW has unveiled a brand new poster for their upcoming Batwoman TV series. Ben Foster, Tommy Lee Jones, Jenna Ortega, and Toby Wallace have joined the cast of the upcoming crime thriller Finestkind. The film is set in a Massachusetts fishing community and follows two recently reunited brothers as they, out of desperation, get into business with a dangerous crime syndicate. Brian Helgeland (Mystic River, L.A. Confidential) will write and direct Finestkind. The film has been acquired by Paramount+ and will begin production this month, eying a late 2022 premiere on the streaming service....

Actor and comedian Ben Stiller is hesitant about returning for Dodgeball 2, according to Justin Long. Speaking with Comicbook.com, Long revealed that, while he would love to come back for more dodgeball action, Stiller is less sure about a sequel and has concerns it would never live up to the beloved 2004 original. Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and led by Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller, the first Dodgeball finds a group of misfits entering a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament in order to save their cherished local gym from a ruthless health fitness chain headed up by the hilariously arrogant White Goodman....

The Dardenne brothers — Luc Dardenne and Jean-Pierre Dardenne — are arguably the most impactful export from Belgium in the field of arts and culture.
