Benedict Wong has been the glue that’s held Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe together. His character, Wong, is the Sorcerer Supreme of the MCU, giving him an importance he didn’t hold within the Infinity Saga era. Wong seems to appear in nearly every Marvel project these days, whether in a feature film or on a Disney+ series. Paul Rudd and Billie Eilish are set to host the final two episodes of Saturday Night Live for 2021. Rudd will be joined by Charli XCX as the musical guest while Eilish will take on double duty as the musical guest as well. SNL is currently in its 47th season and continues to bring on popular talent to host and perform. The last two episodes were hosted by Marvel stars, Jonathan Majors and Simu Liu, with musical guests Taylor Swift and Saweetie....

Blu-Ray is atop the hi-def mountain once again. For the first time since August, Blu-Ray has surpassed the HD-DVD format in number of titles released. HD-DVD took the lead when Paramount Home Entertainment and Dreamworks Animation SKG removed 29 titles from its Blu-Ray library, which was enough to give HD-DVD the lead in titles released. Now it seems that Blu-Ray is back on top, though, according to Home Media Magazine, with a slight 332 to 328 lead over HD-DVD....

B. Alan Orange looks at all of the 2007 movies that made him scream Boo! and Whoop-doo! Guess how many movies I saw this year? One Hundred and Fourteen. Whoop-doo! While that might not be as many as your local art house critic or your universally loved Roger Ebert, I think it’s a fair amount of fake stories to plunder through in twelve months time. I laughed, I cried, I kissed at least a thousand dollars on movie tickets and stale popcorn goodbye....

During the Los Angeles premiere for Bullet Train, Brad Pitt spoke with Entertainment Tonight about Ana de Armas’ performance in Blonde. The upcoming Andrew Dominik film is based on the 2000 novel by Joyce Carol Oates that “reimagines the life of Marilyn Monroe, exploring the split between her public and private selves.” Pitt’s comments come after disparaging remarks regarding de Armas’ accent circulated online following the official trailer release on July 28....

This September prepare to be Broken. In a story from Fangoria, Dimension Extreme and Genius Entertainment will be bringing out both rated and unrated versions of Broken on September 25. A woman wakes up in an unfamiliar and terrifying world in this grim horror tale inspired by a true story. After coming home from a date, forty-ish single mom Hope (Nadja Brand Mason) thanks the babysitter, looks in on her six-year-old daughter, and goes to bed....

Pixar, in my humble opinion, is the best studio in Hollywood. Their films have been the standard for animation, and pretty much all aspects of quality cinema for the last twenty years. It was inevitable that they would take a step back, albeit a minor one, with their heavy-handed sequel, Cars 2. The animation is superb, a beautiful film to see. But the length and sledgehammer delivery of the message takes Cars 2 down to second gear....

You can bring home a brand new film directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant home on DVD and Blu-ray this August. Cemetery Junction will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 17. Robin Hood has signed on Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle as the group of adventurers in director Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood tale for Universal and Imagine, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Russell Crowe toplines the movie, which is being billed as a retelling of the origins of the key characters of the Robin Hood legend. Cate Blanchett is on board as Maid Marian in the project written by Brian Helgeland....

LGBTQ+ filmmakers have been around ever since the start of the filming industry, whether hiding their identity because of socio-political attitudes of the time or openly out. Yes, their works may have gone unnoticed or unacknowledged back in the day, particularly in the early history of LGBTQ+ cinema, but the times are slowly changing. As such, opportunities are starting to be approached in a more equal manner. Although there’s still progress to be made when it comes to inclusivity in Hollywood’s major studios, there are already plenty of talented LGBTQ+ filmmakers that need your appreciation....

Production has begun in Los Angeles on Cavemen, a new comedy that focuses on three cavemen who have successfully made the move to San Diego and are just trying to fit in. The series premieres TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. They have been around since the dawn of time, survived the Ice Age and witnessed the evolution of the Homo sapiens, making them one of the world’s oldest minorities....
