Soon after Jason Momoa’s Aquaman made his triumphant solo debut in 2018, there were rumors about not only a sequel but also a spin-off movie about the terrifying realm of The Trench, which the aquatic hero battles his way through towards the climax of the movie. After being announced in February 2019, the teased horror film, which was to be directed by James Wan, was eventually canceled by Warner Bros, but of course the sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, has moved on and is set for release in December 2022....

For years, Anthony Mackie portrayed Sam Wilson as the Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was first introduced in 2014 with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as Wilson and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) developed a close relationship that would be expanded upon until Roger’s exit in Avengers: Endgame. In 2021 Wilson’s story was expanded upon even further with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series for Disney+. In the show, fans follow the Falcon as he teams up with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), eventually earning the title of Captain America in the process....

CBS unveiled today its new 2013-2014 schedule, featuring eight new series - five comedies and three dramas - to build on the strength of America’s top-rated network. Five of the new series will premiere in the fall and three at mid-season. CBS will finish the current season as the top-rated network in viewers for the 10th time in 11 seasons, #1 in the adults 25-54 demographic and #1 in adults 18-49 for the first time since the 1991-1992 season....

The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric will become the first network evening news broadcast to be simulcast live on the Internet beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5 (6:30-7:00 PM, ET/PT), when it debuts on the CBS Television Network, it was announced by Sean McManus, President, CBS News and Sports, and Larry Kramer, President, CBS Digital Media. “Viewers can now see the CBS Evening News live, as never before,” said McManus. “This is a groundbreaking development in making the program available to the largest possible audience....

20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to the Seth Grahame-Smith graphic novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, according to Variety. Timur Bekmambetov will direct the movie from an adapted script by Seth Grahame-Smith, with Tim Burton producing. It was also said that the movie will be shot in 3D with a $69 million budget. According to MTV Blogs, sixteen year old pop sensation AJ Michalka has just joined the cast of Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones. The young actress stated, “It’s like a dream role. I’m playing the best friend of the girl who gets murdered. I was flipping out [when I heard I won the part]. I’m really, really stoked.” The film is an adaptation of Alice Sebold’s best selling novel. The plot follows a murdered fourteen-year-old girl who recounts the events of her death from heaven....

In conversation with the press ahead of the Blonde premiere at the Venice Film Festival, director Andrew Dominik and star Ana de Armas touched on some otherworldly feelings they experienced during filming. The anticipated film is a fictional account of the public and private lives of Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe, who passed away in 1962 at 36. Filming, coincidentally, began on August 4, the anniversary of Monroe’s untimely death. Dominik compared parts of creating the film to being something “like a séance”, saying:...

HBO Max has unleashed the trailer for Aquaman: King of Atlantis, a three-part animated miniseries starring the DC superhero. Providing the voice of Aquaman in the new special is actor Cooper Andrews, whom fans of The Walking Dead will recognize for his role as Jerry, a fan favorite and right hand man to King Ezekiel (Khary Payton). It would appear that her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp is not going very well for Amber Heard. Ahead of the trial, there had been a popular petition launched online calling for Heard to be removed from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. It had been hovering around 1.8 million signatures before the trial began. Just weeks later, as more and more spectators became aware of the petition, it has officially surpassed 3 million signatures....

HBO Max’s Batgirl movie is shaping up to be an unexpected attention grabber for the streaming platform, with connections to the DCEU, the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman, Brendan Fraser’s Firefly, and J.K. Simmons reprising his Justice League role of Commissioner Gordon. You can go all the way back to the Batman of the 60s on Blu-Ray this July. Batman: The Movie will be released in the Blu-Ray format on July 1, just in time to enjoy this before The Dark Knight hits theaters on July 18. We don’t have any cover art as of yet, but the BD disc will be priced at $39.98. They will also release a limited edition run of 5,000 discs that will be packaged with a 1/18th scale Batmobile toy car from Hot Wheels, which will go for $59....

In an interesting piece of casting news, Ben Stiller is up for the role of Jack Torrance in a new stage production of the Stephen King story The Shining. Previously played by Jack Nicholson in the famous film adaptation by Stanley Kubrick, the role is something different for Stiller, who typically leans toward more comedic roles. Per Deadline, the Ivo van Hove stage adaptation is in the works with plans for a West End debut in 2023 before an eventual move to Broadway....
