The new animé series Blood+ continues the story of one of the best-selling animé films of all time, Blood: The Last Vampire. Set in modern-day Okinawa, the series blending action, suspense and drama is set to premiere on Saturday, March 10, at 12:30 a.m. (ET, PT) on Adult Swim. Blood+ is from executive producers Hideo Katsumata and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa and features music from Academy Award-winning composer, Hans Zimmer. Blood+ is a half-hour animé series and is produced by Aniplex, Inc....

Based on a New York Times article about a group of senators who share a town house in Washington, D.C., Alpha House stars John Goodman (Roseanne, Argo) as John Biggs, a politician who finds out his seat is threatened by a celebrated Duke basketball coach. To make matters worse, Biggs finds out he has to go to Afghanistan as part of the campaign....

The Dolby Theater in Hollywood was full of fans for the show Parks and Recreation last night. The crowd was there to see the cast assembled once again onstage at Paley Fest. The enthusiastic audience went nuts when the crew took the floor for what was billed as a Parks reunion. Amy Poehler, star of the popular show, was so taken by the fans’ reaction that she said she was literally holding back tears when she arrived onstage for the reunion....

Chef, travel host, and gifted storyteller Anthony Bourdain has died. He was 61-years old. Bourdain was in France shooting an episode of his Parts Unknown show where he was found dead in his hotel room from an apparent suicide by hanging, according to CNN. His close friend Eric Ripert, the French chef, found Bourdain unresponsive in his hotel room Friday morning. Anthony Bourdain was more than just a TV personality. His raw take on life and unique way of identifying and sharing cultures was unmatched....

The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn won’t hit theaters until December 23, but there is already movement on a sequel, with Anthony Horowitz confirmed to write Prisoners of the Sun. Here’s what he had to say on Richard Bacon’s Radio 5 program on BBC this week. The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn combines both The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham’s Treasure books by Hergé. There is speculation that the sequel will combine Prisoners of the Sun and The Seven Crystal Balls books....

Professional actor and photographer Aron Eisenberg, best known for his role as Nog on the sci-fi series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, has very sadly passed away at the age of 50. Eisenberg’s wife Malíssa Longo confirmed the actor’s passing on Facebook, although the cause of death has not yet been made clear. “It is with extreme regret and sadness to announce that my love and best friend, Aron Eisenberg, passed away earlier today,” Longo writes in the touching Facebook post....

BCI is getting it’s animated “Ghoulie” on. In a story from The Digital Bits, BCI is going to be will be releasing Groovie Goolies: The Saturday “Mourning” Collection on October 24. This collection is going to including all 16 episodes a 45-minute Goolians “docu-comedy,” audio commentary tracks on certain episodes (hosted by Wally Wingert and they also feature producer Lou Scheimer, head writer Jack Mendelsohn, Filmation historian Darrell McNeil and monster expert Bob Burns), an image gallery, “a Goolie-Get-Together sing-a-long, a candid story from Lou Scheimer on The Creation of Filmation, series trivia, an episode guide, and DVD-ROM extras” (including scripts and a series bible for The Kookie Spookies show)....

Acclaimed British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is in final negotiations to star in the Netflix limited series Eric as per Variety. Set in 1980s New York, the six-episode show would star Cumberbatch as Vincent Sullivan, the lead puppet maker and puppeteer of America’s most popular children’s show. When his young son Edgar suddenly disappears, Vincent is plunged into a downward spiral leading to homelessness and substance addiction. His only companion on this journey is Eric, a seven-foot-tall blue puppet who guides him back to his son and home....

American actress Annette Bening has racked up a plethora of awards and nominations during her 40-year career, including a BAFTA, Tony Award nominations, and several nominations at the Academy Awards. Originally a child from the Midwest, she moved to California in elementary school with her family. There, she instilled a love for the arts, and she grew up to receive her undergraduate degree in Theater Arts. She began her theater career, like many other actors, performing the Shakespearean classics, but eventually made her way to Broadway and the movie world....

John Singleton was a singular talent. A writer, director, and producer, Singleton came up in the 90s, beginning with his debut feature Boyz n the Hood in 1991, and rose to even higher prominence in the 2000s, with movies like Shaft and Four Brothers. He sadly died in 2019 at the age of 51 after being hospitalized from suffering a stroke, and left behind a legacy that is truly untouchable and will surely stand the test of time....

Billy Ray has signed on to write and direct an English-language version of the Argentinian thriller The Secret in Their Eyes for Warner Bros., which is negotiating the rights. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Juan José Campanella’s 2009 murder mystery, adapted from the novel by Eduardo Sacheri, won the foreign language Oscar in March. The film follows a retired criminal investigator in 2000 Buenos Aires who is writing a novel to try and deal with an unresolved rape and murder from 1974 that still haunts him....
