Streaming services have become more popular than ever before, and Paramount+ is another that has joined the television craze. Originally launched as CBS All Access in 2014, the video streaming platform was later rebranded as Paramount+ in 2021, as outlined by The Verge. CBS Films has set Brendan Fraser to star opposite Harrison Ford in a medical drama which will mark the studio’s first movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fraser will play John Crowley, the father of two children who were diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder for which he’s told there is no cure. Unbowed, he seeks out the help of an experimental and sometimes irascible doctor (Ford) who works to find a way to save the children’s lives....

Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer has signed on to produce Stretch Armstrong, the first film to be developed through Universal Pictures’ six-year pact with toymaker Hasbro. According to Variety, the studio will release the family action pic on April 15, 2011. Grazer, who is currently producing a new take on Robin Hood for the studio, will produce the pic, based on the popular 1970s action figure whose limbs could be stretched to nearly four feet....

Themed episodes are starting to become a popular trend on the hit Fox series Glee, and season two will be no exception. Last season saw odes to both Madonna and Lady Gaga. The hit series Breaking Bad has been widely praised for its powerful ending, but it was nearly ruined by a thief who made off with scripts of the series finale before the episode aired. Originally premiering on AMC in 2008, Breaking Bad was created by Vince Gilligan. It stars Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who turns to producing quality meth with the help of a former student (Aaron Paul) as a way of giving his life a new purpose following a lung cancer diagnosis....

BURGER KING restaurant guests will have a chance to get into the action in an all new way this summer through a Burger King Corporation (BKC) promotion with Columbia Pictures for the theatrical release of Spider-Man 3. The five week promotion, beginning April 30, features the “Which Spidey Suits You?” scratch-and-win game pieces on specially marked BURGER KING menu items while supplies last. Just as in the movie, in which Spider-Man is forced to choose between his red and blue suit and a new black suit, guests will choose to reveal what’s behind either the familiar red-and- blue Spider-Man or the black-suited Spider-Man....

Marvel Studios is gearing up for the superhero sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which goes into production after Thor: The Dark World wraps later this year. The studio is currently searching for the female lead, with Anna Kendrick (End of Watch), Felicity Jones (Like Crazy), and Imogen Poots (Fright Night) being considered as the front runners. No further details were released about this new female character. Chris Evans is slated to return as Steve Rogers/Captain America....

A lot of the best comedies on television lately have been focused on kind-hearted characters and optimistic worlds. Comedy is a broad concept with many forms. One traditional form of comedy often involves some form of ridicule, sometimes punching up at institutions of authority but also sometimes down at those without which can come off as cruel. Some comedies can be incredibly mean-spirited, focusing on someone being offended or suffering in some way....

Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema recently announced that April 16, 2010 will be the release date for A Nightmare on Elm Street. Warner Bros.’ New Line Cinema have hired veteran screenwriter Wesley Strick to pen the relaunch of the A Nightmare on Elm Street series. The original Nightmare was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984. The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddy Krueger himself....
