Atypical has been renewed for Season 3 by Netflix. The critically acclaimed series is coming back with 10 new 30-minute episodes. The comedy has been praised for its positive and realistic portrayal of autism, with season 2 bringing in eight actors on the autism spectrum to portray different characters, in an effort to better reflect the community. Atypical also brought in Dr. Michelle Dean, who received her PhD from UCLA and worked at the UCLA Center for Autism and Research and Treatment, to serve as a consultant to ensure an accurate depiction of the autism spectrum disorder....

Benicio Del Toro has signed on to be one of seven directors, directing a segment for 7 Days in Havana, a Spanish-language film about contemporary Cuba. According to Variety, Benicio Del Toro joins France’s Laurent Cantet and Gaspar Noé, Argentina’s Pablo Trapero, the Palestinian territories’ Elia Suleiman, Spain’s Julio Medem and Cuba’s Juan Carlos Tabio. Last week, we spoke with Breaking Bad star Betsy Brandt, who indicated the show’s fifth and final season may be split into two, eight-episode halves. Series star Bryan Cranston confirmed the mid-season split, revealing the final eight episodes won’t air until 2013. AMC has been coy on the issue, stating the mid-season hiatus is, “one scenario” currently being considered. The network also hasn’t announced when Season 5 will debut yet, although it is believed to premiere sometime in July, most likely after Mad Men wraps up its current season....

Castle Rock season 2 just got a whole lot more interesting for Stephen King fans. CBS’s freshman comedy The Class and sophomore comedy How I Met Your Mother are switching time periods, effective Monday, Oct. 9. The Class will move to Monday (8:30-9:00 PM) from its current 8:00 time period, while How I Met Your Mother will now lead off CBS’s Monday comedy block (8:00-8:30 PM). Through its first three broadcasts, The Class is averaging 8.95 million viewers, 3.1/09 in adults 18-49 and 3.9/10 in adults 25-54....
