Iconic film and television actor David Carradine was found dead in his Bangkok, Thailand hotel room this morning at the age of 72. The news was confirmed by a U.S. Embassy official and it was said he died either late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. While the death is still being investigated, early reports have surfaced that indicate the star of the Kill Bill films and the TV series Kung Fu had been found hanged in his hotel room....

The Weinstein Company is in final negotiations to sign a three-picture deal with top Chinese actress Ziyi Zhang (Memoirs of a Geisha), the first being a live-action version of Mulan, says Variety. Second up with Zhang, The Weinstein Co. is planning a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 movie The Seven Samurai. Zhang is interested in playing the role of a peasant girl who hides from bandits in boy’s clothes, according to The Hollywood Reporter....

After Dark Films has announced that it’s teaming up with the new site Massify.com to create the first feature film that is completely developed by an Internet community. The film will also be released in After Dark Films’ 8 Films to Die For in 2008. Massify.com users will vote on everything along the way, picking one filmmaker to produce this film, which they have dubbed Ghosts in the Machine....

ABC has released a new Official Logo poster for Marvel’s Agent Carter, which is slightly different from the first logo released in May and the Comic-Con poster that debuted in July. While the network hasn’t officially announced when the eight-episode season will premiere, the show will air between the first and second halves of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s second season. However, fans will be able to get their first glimpse at Peggy Carter in action during the Marvel’s Agents of S....

Amber Heard has been given another setback in her ongoing trial. Presently, Heard is the defendant in a lawsuit filed by her ex-husband Johnny Depp. He alleges that Heard wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post in 2018 that falsely described herself as a domestic abuse survivor, subsequently tarnishing his career in a major way. Depp wants $50 million in damages, though Heard counter-sued for $100 million, insisting that her allegations are true and she’s the one being defamed....

Fans of James Cameron’s Avatar have waited a long time for the director to finally continue the franchise with Avatar: The Way of Water, which hits cinemas this December. A new trailer has been released for the psychological thriller Help. Available on digital on Feb. 15, 2022, the thriller comes from Ridder Films in association with executive producer Lucas A. In a remarkably slow week for home video, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction narrowly captured the top spot on the national DVD sales chart, while Paramount’s Failure to Launch remained the top-renting DVD after nearly three weeks in stores, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction earned just $5.9 million at the box office, but it’s still the biggest new theatrical to arrive in stores the week ending July 16....

Embarking on Scotland’s first full-length animated feature film, Glasgow-based Billi Productions Ltd and independent studio Glasgow Animation have started post-production including final colorization, lighting and rendering on the new animated family film Sir Billi, it was announced today by Sascha Hartmann, co-founder of Billi Productions Ltd. The production team is also unveiling the first in a series of animation stills from the film. Hartmann is directing Sir Billi from a screenplay written by his wife Tessa Hartmann, from an original story they developed together....

Peacock has announced LGBTQIA+ horror film They/Them will be available for streaming this summer, along with releasing some first-look images. The slasher film, cleverly pronounced “they-slash-them”, was initially titled Whistler Camp. The film is set in a gay conversion camp where Kevin Bacon’s character, Owen Whistler, serves as camp director. Writer John Logan makes his directorial debut on the new original horror film. Logan insists that underneath the scares and gore, lies a story of love and acceptance....
