Showtime has released a glimpse of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (the Golden Globe-winning and Emmy Award-nominated role played by Kyle MacLachlan) in the new Twin Peaks, which will debut with a two-part premiere on Sunday, May 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on air, on demand and over the internet. Hungarian-born performer Mihaly “Michu” Meszaros, who portrayed the title character ALF in costume, has passed away at the age of 76. The actor was found unresponsive at his home in Los Angeles last week and taken to a local hospital, and he had been in a coma ever since. The actor, who stood just 2'9" and was the self-proclaimed “smallest man alive,” had been suffering from health problems after he had a stroke eight years ago....

NBC’s Saturday Night Live kicks off its 36th season on September 25 with Amy Poehler returning to studio 8H and musical guest Katy Perry. Making their debut on the SNL stage, Vanessa Bayer, Paul Brittain, Taran Killam, and Jay Pharoah will join the cast as featured players. Amy Poehler, former SNL cast member and three-time Emmy Award nominee, will return to studio 8H for her hosting debut. In addition to her eight years on Saturday Night Live, Poehler currently stars in NBC’s critically acclaimed comedy series Parks and Recreation and appeared in numerous feature films including Baby Mama, Mean Girls and Shrek the Third....

Michael Crichton, award-winning author and creator of the television show ER has passed away at the age of 66. According to ET Online, Crichton had been battling cancer for some time. The following statement was released by Crichton’s family: Crichton is perhaps best known as being the author of Jurassic Park and The Andromeda Strain. When Titanic was first set to debut in July of 1997, it missed its initially summer release date due to the massive amount of SFX work still needed to be completed on the project. Everyone thought this meant it would bomb. We all know how that turned out, as the film emerged in December of that year, becoming the biggest movie of all time (at that time). Even though The Dark Knight Rises is still in the midst of principle photography, it hasn’t stopped fans from speculating on where this franchise may go after director Christopher Nolan completes his trilogy. There’s been rumors that another big name director may step in and create an all-new trilogy from scratch, and that Bruce Wayne may also lead a TV series sometime in the near future. No one in the Bat camp is talking at this point....

Ben Diskin is the latest person to provide a personality for Spider-Man’s classic villain, Venom. Diskin gives voice to Spidey’s evil doppleganger in The Spectacular Spider-Man, and at last weekend’s Wondercon, he spoke to Comics Continuum about his take on the character. Diskin first described who Eddie Brock is in this series, as opposed to previous incarnations of the character. “He works at the ESU lab with Doctor Connors,” Diskin said....

Fresh off her marriage to fellow Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, British-Indian actress Alia Bhatt has cemented her status as one of India’s most elite celebrities. The 29-year-old actress made her acting debut in 1999 with the movie Sangharsh, which is based on the American movie Silence of the Lambs. She was five years old when she took on that role. Bhatt was born into a family known for their acting, directing, and writing prowess in Hindi cinema, also known as Bollywood....

What is it about history that is so enthralling? We know what happens when watching a historical re-enactment, yet this doesn’t stop us from eagerly awaiting the outcome. In addition to being fascinating, heartbreaking, and sometimes disturbing, history reminds us of where we came from, and the growth and hardships we have overcome. Perhaps that’s what makes it so appealing– we can look back at the past and see how far we’ve come as a society, or as individual human beings, or we can try to avoid the tragedies of history....

Sequels or prequels explore more of the world; however, the focus tends to be on the story and limits how much can be seen. Franchises were able to show even more when expanding into TV shows. Steve Burns was expecting to meet with some of his many fans when he attended Steel City Con in Pennsylvania, but he was pleasantly surprised to see an old friend come to see him after the two first met 22 years ago. Back in 2000, when Burns was still serving as the host of Blue’s Clues, he granted a Make-A-Wish recipient’s wish of spending the day with him. That 4-year-old boy, now a 25-year-old cancer survivor, approached Burns at the convention, and it was an emotional reunion for them both....
