For horror fans, there really isn’t a better streaming platform than Shudder. The AMC-owned, horror-focused service not only routinely adds and cycles some of the best horror classics ever created, but has become a well-known channel for upcoming horror filmmakers to get their smaller-budget or less-distributed films in front of the eyes of horror fans everywhere. Aside from having a wide selection of popular and underrated horror films alike, Shudder has also gotten the exclusive streaming rights to some incredible gems....

Horror movies of the 80s were full of gory effects with a comedic undertone. Known as the decade that popularized slasher films, the 80s also saw an emergence of creatures such as vampires, aliens, and werewolves. Many versions of these creatures came to life on the big screen during the 80s, but none were as memorable as the different portrayals of the vampire. From young actors like Corey Haim battling hipster vampires of The Lost Boys to the great Nicolas Cage pretending to become a vampire in Vampire’s Kiss, the 80s brought to light iconic performances of vampire movies....

Last night, when I attended the red carpet premiere for The Killing, which debuts Season 2 Sunday, April 1, I was not expecting to see one of the stars of another hit AMC series, Betsy Brandt of Breaking Bad. The actress plays Marie Schrader, the wife of Dean Norris’ Hank Schrader, and since I knew production started soon on the fifth and final season, I had to ask her about it on the red carpet....

While Better Call Saul came up short at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this week, it’s managed to get another special award elsewhere. Rotten Tomatoes, a website that aggregates reviews from professional critics to compile critical scores for movies and TV shows, has named Better Call Saul as the drama series that was better reviewed than any other for all of last year. This accomplishment earned the Breaking Bad spinoff the Golden Tomato Award for Best-Reviewed Drama TV Series of 2022....

Many of us are still mourning the loss of beloved character actor Bill Paxton who sadly passed away at the age of 61. He died on Saturday, February 25 from complications following a surgery. There has been some speculation recently that his Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. character may be readying for a return, which would definitely have been affected by his passing. Marvel has made it clear that was not in the cards....

The confirmed debut date for the new HBO drama series Boardwalk Empire is Sunday, September 19 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT). From Terence Winter, Emmy Award-winning writer of The Sopranos, and Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese, Boardwalk Empire is set in Atlantic City at the dawn of Prohibition, when the sale of alcohol became illegal throughout the United States. Back in the ’90s, Bob Saget had an image of a wholesome family man due to his role on the classic sitcom Full House. The comedian also served as the host for the comedy series America’s Funniest Home Videos for its first eight seasons, adding funny voices and commentary to the wacky home videos Americans send in. In the years following his work on these programs, Saget has become more well-known for his raunchy stand-up material, which is a far cry from how TV viewers saw him two decades ago....

America’s beloved funnyman Bob Saget (Full House, America’s Funniest Home Videos) revisits his hosting skills as host for NBC’s latest primetime offering, 1 vs 100, the newest international game show import from the producers of NBC’s smash hit Deal or No Deal premiering later this season. The announcement was made today by Craig Plestis, Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming & Development, NBC Entertainment. “Bob is popular with audiences of all ages and is a perfect fit as host for our newest game show import,” said Plestis....

Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered in 1997, and is considered one of the best shows of all time, making the top ten on Entertainment Weekly’s list of all-time greatest shows. It stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy, a vampire slayer who must save the world while still dealing with her human life. The show has a great group of characters, including Willow (Alyson Hannigan), Xander (Nicholas Brendon), Giles (Anthony Stewart Head), Angel (David Boreanaz), and Spike (James Marsters)....

Netflix is definitely preparing for an intense Halloween season. The streaming platform recently released a lot of new teaser trailers for different projects, a part of the virtual Geeked Week event, an event to announce news, trailers, and more updates on Netflix productions. And horror fans have a lot to anticipate being released this year, from the first look at Tim Burton’s Wednesday series with Jenna Ortega to the teaser trailer of Mike Flanagan’s new series, The Midnight Club....

CBS is teaming up with three members of the Jackson family for Pop Dynasty, an American Idol-style competition designed to find new superstar singers, according to Variety. The network will produce at least eight episodes of the project. Jermaine Jackson is one of the principal partners in the project and will serve as a judge, along with Tito and LaToya. Also aboard: longtime collaborators Jamie Foxx, Marcus King and Greg Shelton, along with Triage Entertainment’s Stu Schreiberg....

Reina Hardesty is the latest actor to exit The Boys college spinoff after Aimee Carrero and Shane Paul McGhie left the project last month. The currently untitled live-action series is loosely based on the G-men team (parody of Marvel’s X-men), who were mentioned in season one of The Boys. The show is set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes and is described as an “irreverent, R-rated show that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities....

Sequels are supposed to make the previous films better. They should introduce new concepts, add character development, and throw in some good twists. Pretty much every successful franchise has changed things for the better. Of course, there’s always the chance that the opposite might happen. While introducing new concepts, changing characters, or trying to pull off huge twists, it’s surprisingly easy to accidentally create a giant plot hole that ruins the internal logic of the previous films....

Nothing makes a movie iconic quite like a memorable character. The Indiana Jones franchise would be nothing without its titular character’s iconic hat, whip and quippy one-liners. As important as those details are, it’s also important to remember that characters should have an active role in the actual plot of the film. They should make decisions that have genuine consequences for the film’s ending. Hollywood has produced plenty of memorable characters who have somehow made no difference to how the film ends up by the time the final credits roll....

Sundance Institute this evening announced the Jury, Audience, NEXT and other special awards of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival at the Festival’s Awards Ceremony, hosted by Parker Posey in Park City, Utah. The Kiefer Sutherland series 24 was an immediate sensation when it arrived on screens back in 2001, and as the real-time thriller approaches its 20th anniversary, it looks like Fox could be about to restart the clock for a second time as discussions are underway for another return, with the network saying that there is a “high chance” of some form of the show coming back. The initial run of 24 lasted until 2010, and was followed up by a limited TV event, 24: Live Another Day, there is no word as to who would be starring in his new addition to the franchise and if Sutherland would be back in his iconic role as Jack Bauer....

Fresh off its second seasons, released earlier this year, Sweet Magnolias is a Netflix original series developed from the novel series of the same name by Sherryl Woods (as outlined by Good Housekeeping). Kraven the Hunter isn’t very far from release. The anti-hero origin story set within Sony’s Spider-Man Universe will follow Sergei Kravinoff’s quest to become the most excellent hunter. It will be set in the present day. Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play the titular character, who happens to Spider-Man’s most formidable foe in the comics. The film is under production and is being directed by Triple Frontier’s J.C. Chandor. Earlier, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson had revealed that Kraven the Hunter will be shot entirely on location....
