Austin Butler wowed audiences with his portrayal of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s rock and roll biographical drama Elvis, and his win at the Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday cemented his place in the A-list of young Hollywood stars. However, there was a point when such a role and the accolades that come with it were not on Butler’s agenda. As the actor recently recalled during The Hollywood Reporter’s Roundtable, the death of his mother caused him to question whether acting was a “noble” enough profession to continue in the business....

The CW has had enough Batwoman. Per showrunner Caroline Dries, the network has officially canceled the series, a move that seems to be just as disappointing for her as it will undoubtedly be for the fans. In an emotional statement posted to Twitter, Dries expresses her gratitude for getting to go for as long as they did while thanking the fans for the support they had shown since the very beginning....

Well known British actor Benedict Cumberbatch seemingly brought his heroic roles in Doctor Strange and Sherlock to life late last week when he rescued a cyclist from a team of muggers late last week. The muggers were attempting to take the cyclist’s bike from him before Cumberbatch stepped in to save the day. Cumberbatch was in an Uber with his wife Sophie Hunter when they passed by the Deliveroo cyclist who was being attacked by the gang of muggers....

TV director Jenny Ash is developing a new film on the life of legendary reggae singer Bob Marley, according to Deadline London. Ash, who is nominated for an Emmy Award for her direction on the History Channel mini-series America: The Story of Us, will focus the biopic on Marley’s time spent living in London in 1977. Marley fled from Jamaica to London after an attempt was made on his life. There, he started up an affair with Cindy Breakspeare....

CBS today announced dates for the fall premieres of its new and returning series, which include a pre-season debut for Survivor: Samoa and the launch of the new Sunday drama series Three Rivers in early October. The Network will introduce the majority of its schedule beginning Monday, Sept. 21, the official start of the 2009-2010 season. The Flash star Ezra Miller has raced into the spotlight in an attempt to assure Zack Snyder fans that the movie will not erase the so-called Snyder-Verse from canon, debunking several recent rumors. While some supposed leaks have claimed that The Flash will use its multiverse-centered plot to erase the likes of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League from existence, Miller has taken to Instagram to state that this is not the case, and that “No power or force in any known megaverse would or could ever erase Zack Snyder’s mighty wrkz....

Directors Guild of America President Taylor Hackford today announced the five nominees for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2011. “The directors nominated this year for the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film Award have each demonstrated an inspired command of the medium. The fact that their prodigious talents have been recognized by their peers is the highest honor a director can achieve,” said Hackford. “I offer my most sincere congratulations to each of the nominees....

A&E presents Steven Seagal: Lawman, a new Real-Life series that will chronicle martial arts expert and international film star Steven Seagal’s extraordinary life in law enforcement on Wednesday, December 2nd at 10PM ET/PT on A&E with back-to-back episodes. Take a trip to India with a brand new edition and format for this David Lean epic A Passage to India will be released in a new collectors edition and Blu-Ray version on April 15. In another example of just how mainstream the pornography business has become, one film is crossing over from an X rating to an R. In a story from Home Media Retailing, the adult film Pirates has been severely edited and given an R rating by the MPAA. It will now reap the benefits of being able to have mainstream distribution. This is the first time an “adult movie” has been able to do this....
