It’s achingly formulaic with a molasses drip delivery. The ponderous runtime wears patience thin with scant surprises. The single redeeming aspect is its frank portrayal of struggling motherhood. The protagonist’s difficulties in bonding with her infant endangers a strained marriage. Abandoned might have worked as a relationship drama....

Surrogates actor Boris Kodjoe has revealed more details about the upcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife. According to BlackFilm.com, Ali Larter will reprise her role as Claire Redfield and Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller has boarded the cast. Many fans are banking on Warner Bros. employing some reshoots to get Emilia Clarke into Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. As it stands, the film is slated for a release in March 2023 with much of the cast of the original Aquaman returning. This includes Amber Heard as Mera, the love interest to Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry. Netflix announced the renewal of the breakout true-crime satire, American Vandal. The investigation continues with eight all-new episodes in 2018, exclusively on Netflix. American Vandal co-creators/executive producers Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, as well as showrunner/executive producer Dan Lagana, are slated to return. The streaming service also released a brief video announcing the return of this Netflix original series. From co-creators Tony Yacenda (Pillow Talking) and Dan Perrault (Honest Trailers), and showrunner Dan Lagana (Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous) comes American Vandal, a half-hour true-crime satire that explores the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left 27 faculty cars vandalized with phallic images....

Another day, another Marvel rumor. This one is related to upcoming Ant-Man sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and the possible appearance of the supervillain M.O.D.O.K. Now, there have been several rumors flying around recently regarding the character’s role in proceedings, with this latest report claiming that it will in fact be Corey Stoll’s Darren Cross slotting into the floating chair of the Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing. Stoll’s scientist Darren Cross first appeared in 2015’s Ant-Man and was a former protégé of Hank Pym’s who takes over his mentor’s company and militarizes a similar version of the Ant-Man technology to create the Yellowjacket suit....

In a report from Deadline, Apple Studios confirmed the deal to acquire a Formula 1 film starring Brad Pitt, directed by Joseph Kosinski. The streaming service was negotiating competitively to land the project, dating back to January. The film has yet to receive a title, although a few tidbits of information about the movie allow us to speculate. Pitt will be playing a retired driver who is forced to return to F1 racing and compete alongside a rookie against the best drivers the sport has to offer....

The comic book series Assassin & Son is getting the feature film treatment courtesy of State Street Pictures. Per Deadline, the production company has optioned the rights for the comic, which comes from the minds of two former WWE Superstars. It was created and written by Marc Copani, who performed as controversial wrestling villain Muhammad Hassan, and late wrestler Shad Gaspard, who competed in the popular tag team Cryme Tyme with JTG....
