Bravo announced the pilot pick-up of Paycheck, a game that challenges the cultural bias of first impressions and snap judgments. Based on a new UK format from IDTV, seven players must guess each other’s salaries, based on questions about pop culture, observations about their opponents, surprising and revealing “factoids” about each player, and good old-fashioned intuition. The player who matches all six opponents to their correct salaries can win up to $25,000....

Breaking Bad favorite Charles Baker has taken some time to reflect back upon his role as Skinny Pete and even teased the possibility of a spinoff series. In Breaking Bad, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) was frequently seen with two of his pals, Skinny Pete and Brandon “Badger” Mayhew (Matt Jones). The pair showed up in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie as well, though neither would join Jesse for a cameo in the recently-concluded spinoff show Better Call Saul....

When last we saw Walter White (Bryan Cranston) at the end of Breaking Bad Season 4, he had just decimated Gus Fring’s (Giancarlo Esposito) face with a wheelchair bomb that former enemy Tio Salamanca (Mark Margolis) had willingly strapped to himself. It appears that we won’t get a Britney Spears encore from last year at this year’s VMA’s. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Britney Spears’ publicist confirmed that the pop star will not be performing at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. “Contrary to media reports, Britney was never slated to perform on this year’s VMAs,” Larry Rudolph, Spears’ manager at Jive Records, said in a statement. “She’s in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well, and her focus remains on the studio....

Super Bowl XLV is just around the corner, with the NFL championship game to air on February 6. Several high-profile 2011 movies will be showcased during the highly-anticipated commercial breaks. Paramount will premiere new ads for Super 8, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, representing the largest studio presence for the Super Bowl commercials. Disney is also rolling out a new ad for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, while Universal has bought ad time for a new Cowboys and Aliens commercial....

Netflix has revealed the first trailer for Castlevania season 3. The streaming service recently released the first poster for the new season, in addition to handing out a March release date for the popular anime series. It was quite clear a trailer wasn’t far behind and, sure enough, we’ve got one to feast our eyes upon now. The show looks to be ramping up in scale this time around, with new threats, massive beasts and lots of blood....

Cate Blanchett has earned her fourth Golden Globe. The renowned actress joins Ingrid Bergman, Jane Fonda, and Meryl Streep as a three-time Best Actress Golden Globe recipient– her previous wins came for her work on Elizabeth and Blue Jasmine. Blanchett’s award-winning performance as fictional acclaimed orchestra conductor Lydia Tár in TÁR has been consistently praised, with speculation that Blanchett will also take home the Oscar, which would mark her third Best Actress Academy Award win....

Adapting books into films is a great way to reach a wider audience. By transferring the story from the page to the screen, the film can introduce the narrative to viewers who may not have read or even heard of the book. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror films has announced the nominations for the 35th Annual Saturn Awards. Leading the charge was Christopher Nolan’s super-hero crime thriller The Dark Knight with 11 nominations. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Iron Man followed closely behind with 9 and 8 nominations, respectively....

I went into my screening of A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints not knowing anything about this movie, other than that the one sheet made me think it might have something to do with superheroes. Little did I know I was going to become immersed in a New York drama set in 1986 about a group of friends, and all the highs and lows that befall them. The person leading the story is Dito Montiel who also wrote the book A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints....

Alex Winter, perhaps best known as Bill in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, is directing a documentary about Napster after ten years of trying to launch a feature film based on its creator Shawn Fanning. The documentary will be backed by VH1, who also helped Anvil! the Story of Anvil get to the big screen. Alex Winter was originally going to make the Napster narrative film through Paramount’s MTV Films, having written the script himself....

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY The Wheel of Time is based on the late Robert Jordan’s best-selling novel seriesof the same name. It is a sprawling fantasy epic that covers fourteen main books - as well as a few prequels. The series follows a core group of young adults as they are thrust into a world of magic and danger. They are guided by a mysterious sorceress Moiraine, who may or may not be trusted....

Ang Lee has pacted to make his second consecutive film, following his Academy Award win for directing Brokeback Mountain, with Focus Features. Lee will next direct Lust, Caution, an espionage thriller set in WWII-era Shanghai. Bill Kong, who previously produced Mr. Lee’s hit Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, will produce the new film with the director. The Chinese-language feature is being scripted by Wang Hui-Ling, who previously co-wrote Mr. Lee’s Eat Drink Man Woman and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon....
