Don Hall, a longtime sound editor who has worked on more than 90 feature films, has been voted the John A. Bonner Medal of Commendation by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Bonner medallion will be presented at the Scientific and Technical Awards Dinner on Saturday, February 18, at The Beverly Hilton. “Don has been ubiquitous around the Academy at anything relating to technology…and especially to the art and science of motion picture sound �” serving on the board of governors, hosting public programs, attending committee meetings of all sorts and personally supporting the Academy Foundation’s many programs," said Academy President Sid Ganis....

American Horror Story: Double Feature has temporarily shut down production due to a positive COVID-19 case and potential exposure to the illness. The positive case was detected in what’s been termed “Zone A” in COVID-production protocol, which means “any perimeter within which activity occurs without physical distancing or the use of PPE”. The case originated from one of the American Horror Stories actors whose identity details have not been disclosed....

Producer Scott Rudin has revealed that “we’re pretty close” to attaching a director to his high-profile Sony Pictures 3D movie Cleopatra starring Angelina Jolie and based on Pulitzer Prize-winner Stacy Schiff’s biography “Cleopatra: A Life,” reports Deadline. Paul Greengrass is rumored to be in the running, although Scott Rudin would not say which directors are being considered: Screenwriter Brian Helgeland wrote this PG-13 and 3D Cleopatra and is described as a “brilliant script deserving of epic treatment” about the “greatest female heroine” and “what the Romans took from Egypt”....

Animaniacs is returning this winter with an all-new series revival on Hulu, and the streamer has released a new teaser for the reboot to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the original’s series premiere. As has been previously announced, the new Animaniacs is set to return with the original voice actors back on board to reprise their classic roles. Hulu has also announced that the revival is set to begin streaming on Nov....

Alan Arkin is the first cast member to sign on to Argo for Warner Bros. and director Ben Affleck. The project is based on the true story of an unlikely union between the CIA and Hollywood to rescue six American hostages in Tehran, Iran in 1979. The CIA’s plan involved telling the Iranian hostage-takers that the six hostages were actually members of a film crew, who were scouting locations for a movie entitled Argo....

Atlantic Records has announced the upcoming release of “TMNT - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Music from the Motion Picture.” The album will be released for online purchase on March 13th, followed in stores a week later, March 20th. Warner Bros. Discovery shelved the nearly-finished Batgirl movie yesterday, in arguably its most controversial decision yet. It’s a rare occurrence in Hollywood that a movie carrying a budget of $90 million and starring several A-list actors gets canceled without even receiving a VOD release. As confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery, there are no plans for Batgirl to get a theatrical or streaming release ever.
