WEEKEND BOX OFFICE As predicted last week, Paranormal Activity 2, the sequel to last year’s hit film, was the number one movie at the box office. The film took in about $41.5 million in its opening weekend, surpassing its modest $3 million budget and earning a profit of about $38.5 million. With the Halloween weekend upon us, it only make sense that Saw 3D, the seventh chapter in the popular horror franchise, would open at the top spot and bump last week’s number one to second place....

It has been speculated so much that we just take it as fact at this point. But there has not been a solid confirmation that The Lizard is the main villain of The Amazing Spider-Man until right this very second. Actor C. Remakes are an almost guaranteed profit machine for Hollywood, as whether bad or good, fans of the original cannot help but be curious to see what has been done to a story they either grew up watching or have some other affiliation with. However, Cary Elwes certainly isn’t on board with the idea of remaking perfectly good and beloved movies just because they are older and he proved this again by continuing to insist that The Princess Bride should never get the remake treatment....

The Good I can say unequivocally that I have never seen a movie that looks like this. The Bad No extras for a movie that seems to demand them. Casshern is a worldly and other worldly tale about Earth in the later part of the 21st Century. With human beings at risk for extinction, a “Neo-Cell” is found that is believed to be able to save the species. However, due to corporate greed and the way funding is acquired, rather than be used for good the Neo-Cell is appropriated so that a special group of “mutants” can be engineered to dispel the planet of humanity....

CBS announced today that most of its new and returning series will premiere during the week of Sept. 20, the official start of the 2010-2011 season. The exceptions are Survivor: Nicaragua, which launches a week earlier, and The Good Wife and CSI: Miami, which both debut a week later. Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård is the latest star involved in the controversy that sparked in Hollywood after Lily-Rose Depp refused nepo baby claims. Skarsgård, whose father, Stellan Skarsgård, and brothers (Bill, Gustaf, and Valter) are actors, said he is well aware of the debate. Skarsgård is at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival for director-writer Brandon Cronenberg’s new movie Infinity Pool. Fans have been waiting to see what would happen to Marvel’s Netflix programs once Disney purchased Marvel and created the MCU. It seems the wait is over, as Daredevil, The Punisher and Jessica Jones are heading over to Disney+Star. For Canadian fans, this is excellent news. As of March 1st, those programs will drop from Netflix. The news comes after the announcement that these shows will be exiting Netflix at the end of the month....

ABC will launch a global interactive game based on the hit TV show Lost, the network announced Monday says The Associated Press. The “Lost Experience” will be Internet-based and will feature a parallel story line that is not part of the TV show. It will begin May 2 in the United Kingdom, May 3 in the U.S. and May 6 in Australia. There is no winning prize, but the experience will offer clues that could unlock some of the island’s many secrets....

The Good This is just one of those shows that is fun and enjoyable. The Bad No commentary tracks or featurettes. Alf was one of those shows that I watched a lot when I was younger, even though I don’t often think about it in regards to my seminal 1980s TV viewing. I reserve that for shows like Diff’rent Strokes and Saved By the Bell. However, Alf was a show that was certainly a part of that equation and that is why I am so happy to own this DVD set....

A trio of gangster films can be enjoyed in 1080p this October. American Gangster, Casino and Eastern Promises will all come to Blu-Ray on October 14. We have no cover art for these releases as of yet, but each film will be priced at $20.98 SRP. All three films will be packaged together in a gangster pack as well, which will run for $89.98 SRP. Game of Thrones is officially over and some fans just can’t get over how it all ended. One disgruntled fan has taken to the skies above Seattle to state his case. The fan was spotted in an airplane dragging a banner asking for a season 8 rewrite. This is just the latest stunt after an online petition caught fire and accumulated over 1.5 million signatures in less than a week. Passionate fans are not happy with the way the series ended and they are letting their voices be heard and in this case, seen....

HBO Max is continuing the clear out their old DC shows, with Pennyworth being the latest series to be axed by Warner Bros. Discovery, according to a report from Deadline. After three seasons and mostly positive reviews, the series that focuses on the early years of Batman’s faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth is ending after having only one season originate at HBO Max, with the previous seasons airing on Epix from 2019....
