While we’d previously heard that an Assassin’s Creed live-action TV show was being planned, an Assassin’s Creed Animated Series is also now officially in the works. Producer Adi Shankar (The Grey, Dredd) has announced that his next project is going to be an anime-style series based on the very successful Ubisoft video game franchise. This is going to be quite a bit different than the approach to the live-action Assassin’s Creed movie and, based on the reception to the movie, that may be a very good thing....

Maggie Gyllenhaal has been acting since the 90s, and the majority of her on-screen performances have been nothing short of spectacular. She was born into the film industry as her father, Stephen Gyllenhaal, is a director, and her mother, Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal, is a screenwriter and director. Today, Maggie and her brother Jake are considered two of the best actors of their generation. She can carry a film, and she is able to generate palpable chemistry with her on-screen counterparts....

After the very unusual year in 2020, Shawn Levy’s Free Guy made its way into theaters following a year-long delay. The film proved to be a major success, resonating with audiences and critics alike while displaying Levy’s directing talents. The Canadian director has been working in Hollywood for many years and was a producer on the critically acclaimed 2016 film Arrival. In addition, Levy has been an executive producer on Netflix’s Stranger Things and has directed two episodes in every season thus far....

Bill Hader has been nominated for an Emmy Award twice for his various performances on Saturday Night Live, but he actually won an Emmy for his contributions to the 2009 South Park episode “Margaritaville”. Since 2008, the actor has served as an on-and-off writer on the show, but this year, he is on the writing staff full time for the 10-episode Season 17, which kicked off last night with “Let Go, Let Gov” on Comedy Central....

When it came out in 1998, Blade was more game-changing than people realized, and was overall very successful as one of Marvel’s first modern superhero movies. While the third movie didn’t live up to the success of the first two, the trilogy remains one of Wesley Snipes’ most iconic roles. It is a highly entertaining and downright fun comic book series that deserves a second look. The Blade series is about the main character, aptly named “Blade”, who was born at the same time that his mother was turning into a vampire - making him half-vampire, half-human....

DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns recently posted some brand new images on his blog from a live-action test video they did for Blue Beetle, a property they currently have in development. Take a look at Johns’ blog entry and the images below. Johns also mentioned that he will be bringing this test footage to Comic-Con this year, so stay tuned for more details on this potential project. I feel very fortunate to have been a part of Blue Beetle’s introduction way back in Infinite Crisis....

The Good Despite all the hoopla, this is really a good film that does the rancher/cowboy genre proud. The Bad It would have been nice to have gotten a commentary track on this DVD from some of the actors. The most interesting thing about this movie from my vantage is not the fact that it looks at gay cowboys (which truthfully is probably the least interesting part of this movie), but the fact that Ang Lee made one of the richest, American looking movies in recent years (who cares if it was shot in Canada, right?...

The X-Men have been the center of rampant speculation, fan casting, and overall intrigue ever since the MCU scooped up the rights from Fox. Who’ll be on the team? What villain will they take on first? Who’s going to play Wolverine? Even Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said that “we’re getting close” to the re-introduction of Marvel’s favorite mutants. We’ve become so entrenched in the live-action that we forgot all about X-Men ‘97, an upcoming reboot/continuation of the classic ’90s X-Men: The Animated Series....

The D23 2022 expo made some great announcements concerning the Marvel and Star Wars universes. One such announcement revealed that Tim Blake Nelson would be back as Marvel’s Samuel Sterns, AKA The Leader. The green man with the giant head was in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk, back when Edward Norton was Bruce Banner. In that movie, Samuel Sterns created a temporary antidote for Banner’s “Hulk problem.” When he tried to repeat the process for Emil Blonsky, he turned him into Abomination....

The beauty of stories is that they often offer a different perspective. Humans that are portrayed as good on the outside are often sinister on the inside, whereas the ones that seem malicious on the outside are often kind and giving on the inside. The Blacklist is one such show that perfectly plays on this twist of perception and truth. The series revolves around a highly wanted criminal called Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) and his personal and professional relationship with Elizabeth (Megan Boone), a rookie profiler working for the FBI....

Merlin was a great TV show consisting of five seasons, or four depending on who you ask. It was full of action, drama, romance, fantasy, magic, and history. The show has been over for more than 12 years now, but that doesn’t stop people from talking about it in earnest even to this day. But with little chance of the show being continued or rebooted, fans will have to find other great shows to fall in love with....

According to Variety, it’s Jack Bauer’s most unusual assignment yet: Administer the takeover of five major-market radio stations for 24 hours. (Insert “24’s” by-now familiar “clink-clink-clink” sound effect here.) CBS Radio’s “Jack FM” stations in New York, L.A., Chicago, Dallas and Minneapolis will go commercial-free for 24 hours on Sunday, Jan. 15, to promote the season premiere of Fox’s “24.” “The guys from Infinity (now CBS Radio) came to us and said, ‘We’ve got Jack stations and you’ve got Jack Bauer, doesn’t it make sense to do something together?...

Pack your passport and prepare for a trip to the outback with Netflix’s new film A Perfect Pairing. Starring Victoria Justice (Lola) and Adam Demos (Max), the film follows a young entrepreneur on her journey to Australia to snag her new wine company’s first client. However, it proves a bit difficult to win them over, and as she tries, sparks might also fly between the station manager training her to work on the family’s sheep farm....

A new video game based on the hit horror movie A Quiet Place is now in the works. Saber Interactive (World War Z, Evil Dead: The Game) and Illogika (Rainbow Six, Far Cry) have teamed up with Ep1t0me to announce the development of an official video game adaptation based on the movie. The game will be a single-player, story-driven horror adventure game with “an original story and gameplay that captures the compelling suspense, emotion and drama for which the series is famous....

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Adult Swim is getting behind Titan Maximum. This is a new comedy series from the people behind a new comedy series from the creative team behind Robot Chicken. The show is going to be a stop-motion animation series centered around robots. The plan is for Titan to launch in September. Adult Swim ordered nine episodes. The show was created by Tom Root and producer Matthew Senreich....

For a show to be as successful and fantastic as The CW’s All American, you know that the cast is packing in boatloads of talent. The TV sports drama follows the rise of a young and talented high school football star named Spencer James. He gets recruited to a team in Beverly Hills and has no choice other than to move in with his new coach, whose son happens to be the star quarterback....

Michael Bay takes a wrecking ball to the streets of Los Angeles in a wild actioner with a flimsy plot. Ambulance can best be described as a live version of the Grand Theft Auto video game. Adapted from a 2005 Danish film, two disparate brothers cause havoc while trying to escape from a botched bank robbery. Ambulance doesn’t make a lick of sense. But had me laughing much more than expected between the insane shootouts and demolition derby....

Showbiz 411 reports that actress Anne Hathaway has signed onto star in The Silver Linings Playbook, with Bradley Cooper in contention for a lead role as well. We first reported on this project last March, with the news that writer-director David O. Russell came on board to adapt and direct the Matthew Quick novel. While it was believed that David O. Russell would tackle Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune next, it seems this project may go first....

A new poster for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania offers a closer look at Jonathan Majors’ debut as the Marvel supervillain, Kang the Conqueror — and hints at how big of a threat he will be. Variety reports that Andy Garcia has attached Anthony Hopkins and Annette Bening to star with him in Hemingway and Fuentes. Garcia is going to direct the movie from a script that he wrote with Hilary Hemingway, granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway. The film will look at the two decades that Hemingway spent in Cuba fishing with his best friend, Gregorio Fuentes. While there, the author fell in love with an Italian girl who prompted him to write “The Old Man and the Sea....
