Joe Roth is partnering with writer-producer Dan Bucatinsky (“The Comeback”) for a half-hour ABC comedy, with Alyssa Milano attached to star, according to Variety. Bucatinsky will write and executive produce the series, which would be Milano’s first since Charmed left the air last spring. Dubbed Me and Everyone Else, the comedy has Milano playing a 30-year-old, take-charge woman –“Rhoda with a sex life,” Bucatinsky said – who’s trying to find her way as an adult....

Joe Wright will direct the epic romance Anna Karenina, adapted from Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel by Academy Award winner Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love). The Working Title Films production will commence filming in the U.K. and Russia this month. Focus Features will distribute the movie domestically, and Universal Pictures International (UPI) will distribute the movie internationally, in the second half of 2012. Anna Karenina marks Mr. Wright’s third Working Title movie with Focus and UPI, following the award-winning boxoffice successes Pride & Prejudice and Atonement....

Avatar: The Way of Water, directed by James Cameron, soared to the top with its debut showing on Friday. It earned an impressive $53 million across the U.S., making it Cameron’s greatest opening day yet. Before the weekend, tracking indicated that Avatar: The Way of Water would have a strong opening with domestic earnings of between $150 million and $175 million and global earnings of between $450 million and $550 million....

The official title for the upcoming sci-fi sequel Avatar 2 has finally been revealed. During a panel at the ongoing CinemaCon 2022, it was revealed that the long, long-awaited Avatar follow-up will be titled Avatar: The Way of Water. Due for theatrical release at the end of this year, it has also now been confirmed that the first trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water will debut exclusively before showings of the Marvel outing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness....

SCI FI Channel will kick off the New Year by moving one of television’s most critically-acclaimed series to television’s hottest night. Battlestar Galactica returns on January 21 on its new day and time - Sundays at 10pm - immediately following the highly anticipated series debut of The Dresden Files at 9pm. “Sundays have long been considered an important night for television. It’s a signal to viewers that this is destination programming and should be considered appointment viewing,” stated Dave Howe, Executive Vice President and General Manager of SCI FI....

Ben Affleck is looking for a followup to his acclaimed crime drama The Town and The Wrap is reporting that the latest script to go by the actor-director is Eric Warren Singer’s American Bulls**t. LGBTQ+ cinema has come a long way since the birth of New Queer Cinema in the early 90s. It’s been one full year since we lost the legendary Bob Saget, and the late actor’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, is reflecting on her first year without him. On Jan. 9, 2021, Saget died of head trauma, believed to be from a fall in his hotel room after performing a stand-up comedy show for the final time the previous night. He was 65 years old. On the one-year anniversary, Rizzo posted a video to Instagram, featuring images and clips from some of the best times she’d had with Saget....
