This time the rumor is that he could actually play a god in Disney’s live-action remake of Hercules. A recent new article claimed that Campbell has been approached to play Hades in the Guy Ritchie-directed movie, and while Campbell has debunked the rumor, he is all in favor of it happening....

ABC has announced that it is finalizing a deal with ABC Studios for a 18-episode season of the Zach Braff sitcom Scrubs. According to Variety, if that’s true, NBC Entertainment/Universal Media Studios co-chair Marc Graboff said ABC Studios would be in breach of contract and they would take appropriate legal action. “NBC has a license agreement with ABC Studios, which includes a right of first negotiation and first refusal to extend the series term beyond this season,” Graboff said....

Adam Shankman (Bedtime Stories) is developing and producing a long-gestating remake of Bye Bye Birdie at Columbia. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shankman will join Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher, who will produce via their Red Wagon banner, as producers. Jennifer Gibgot, Shankman’s partner in Offspring Entertainment, will executive produce. A stage favorite for the past half-century, Bye Bye Birdie centers on Conrad Birdie, a popular singer whose character is based loosely on Elvis Presley....

Motion Picture Corporation of America, spearheaded by CEO Brad Krevoy, has picked up rights to Prisoner of Denver, one of Hunter S. Thompson’s last works, from a June 2004 Vanity Fair article co-written by Thompson and the magazine’s contributing editor Mark Seal. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Prisoner of Denver focused on the injustice and abuse of Colorado’s legal system that saw 21-year-old Lisl Auman charged with murder when the crime occurred while she was in the back of a patrol car, already in police custody....

According to Variety, New Line has acquired The Jazz Ambassadors, a pitch for Antoine Fuqua to direct and Morgan Freeman to star in as jazz impresario Duke Ellington. Fuqua hasn’t made a film since 2004’s King Arthur. He developed American Gangster with Denzel Washington, only to watch Universal pull the plug over budget, and then got close with the Warner Bros./Icon drama Under and Alone until Mel Gibson decided not to star....

America’s Most Wanted host John Walsh welcomes California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the iconic crime-busting show Saturday, April 26 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on Fox. As part of Walsh’s hunt for some of the nation’s most dangerous criminals, he met with Gov. Schwarzenegger at a state-of-the-art laboratory in Sacramento where DNA testing is conducted to discuss the importance of expanding law enforcement’s authority to take DNA samples from criminal suspects. Gov. Schwarzenegger was instrumental in helping pass California’s Prop 69, which mandates taking DNA samples from felony suspects not just convicted criminals....

Peacock has released an official teaser trailer for Bel-Air, the record-setting streaming platform’s reboot of the comedy series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Featuring reimagined versions of characters played on the classic sitcom, the new series follows Jabari Banks as Will, a teenager from West Philadelphia sent to live with family in Bel-Air with the hope of keeping him out of trouble. The first season premiered in February 2022, while season 2 will follow with a debut on Peacock on Feb....
