Val director Ting Poo is working on a documentary about singer Christina Aguilera, Deadline reports. Oscar-winning actress and celebrated director Regina King seems to be in relatively good spirits in a photo captured by her cousin Lawrence Cain Jr., which was shared to Twitter. Cain shared the photo of King bare-faced and smiling during a Facetime call ahead of her first Mother’s Day since losing her only child Ian Alexander Jr. to suicide in January. He was 26 years old. In his caption, Cain asked that people continue to pray for mothers who are living without their children....

ABC is extending its option one more year with late night host Jimmy Kimmel, keeping him and his show Jimmy Kimmel Live at the network through at least 2010, according to Variety. The decision to exercise an early extension comes as Kimmel has received positive attention for his “Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night” series of post-NBA Finals specials, which included a now-famous fist bump Sunday with presidential candidate Barack Obama. Rival candidate John McCain was scheduled to appear on Kimmel’s show following Tuesday’s NBA game....

Indie movies differ to the mainstream blockbusters that populate our local theaters in that they often rely on far smaller budgets, which are secured through small production companies and private investors. While many may argue as to which art form is better, both mainstream blockbusters and smaller indies have their merits. Indie movies may lack the spectacular special effects of say Marvel or the Fast and Furious franchise — whose latest film Fast X has a reported budget of $300 million — but there is potentially greater scope in independent movies to focus on appealing to a more niche audience through more left-field subject matter and creative storytelling....

Alice in Borderland, a Japanese live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name, has become a massive hit after the success of Squid Game in 2021. The show’s initial worldwide success, with the release of the first season in 2019, was fleeting until it saw a resurgence in the previous year. Despite Netflix’s initial skepticism, the Japanese drama Alice in Borderland will be returning for a second season. Fans campaigning for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to happen might be thrilled to know that Andrew Garfield is also open to revisiting his Spidey once again. Wonder Woman, the highly-anticipated fourth entry in the DC Universe animated original movie series, will receive a big screen premiere at New York Comic Con on February 6, 2009 in the IGN Theater at the Javits Center. The 8:30 p.m. screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring members of the film’s cast and crew. Presented by Warner Premiere, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Comics, the all-new Wonder Woman animated original movie will be distributed by Warner Home Video on March 3, 2009....
