Americanidol.com, the official online community for American Idol fans, today unveiled “Video Chance for Fame,” a user-generated video competition that invites fans to create and submit a 10-second commercial on why they love Americanidol.com, the website. The top five commercials, as voted on by the Americanidol.com online community, will air in May during an American Idol telecast, with the winning commercial airing during the highly anticipated season finale Wednesday, May 24 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX....

HBO has taken out their wallet for their upcoming programs. Adam Beach has scored the lead in the cable channel’s original movie, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. Anna Paquin was also just added to the cast of the Dick Wolf project. The Hollywood Reporter also says Kim Delaney and Brigid Brannagh are set to star in the Lifetime series, Army Wives. The Warner Bros. produced show is an ensemble drama about a sassy woman (Sally Pressman) from the wrong side of the tracks who marries a soldier, moves her kids onto a military base and becomes friends with a diverse group of Army wives....

Music superstar and stage and television actress Ariana Grande has been added to an already impressive cast for NBC’s Hairspray Live, playing the role of Penny Pingleton, Tracy Turnblad’s incorrigible best friend. Grande joins an announced stellar cast that includes Harvey Fierstein, Jennifer Hudson, Kristin Chenoweth, Martin Short, Derek Hough and exciting newcomer Maddie Baillio. The highly anticipated live musical production, to be telecast Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, will be executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron....

British comedian Russell Brand has made a career of playing a signature, one-note character; the immature, boozy womanizer who has many faults, but is charming and likeable. His remake of the Dudley Moore classic, Arthur, is entirely in this vein. Brand isn’t stepping out on a ledge here, pretty much delivering what we expect. The difference is the female ensemble. They add a breath of heart and humor that is the saving grace of this film....

Austin Butler has taken home the Golden Globe for best actor in a film for his performance Elvis as Elvis. The Golden Globes returned Tuesday January 10th, 2023 after an ethics makeover following scandal and boycott in 2021. Austin Butler competed in the category alongside fellow nominees Brendan Fraser (The Whale), Hugh Jackman (The Son), Bill Nighy (Living), and Jeremy Pope (The Inspection). Ultimately Butler took home the trophy for his unforgettable portrayal of the King of Rock and Roll....

After thrilling over 61 million visitors with wild rides across “the space-time continuum,” the ground-breaking “Back to the Future - The Ride” attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood will soar into the future for the very last time on Labor Day, September 3, 2007. Barry is a very fun and unique show. Brendan Fraser says that his transformation for The Whale was so drastic that he began experiencing vertigo from the prosthetics. “I had to learn how to move in a new way,” Fraser told journalists at a press conference ahead of the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The Whale stars Fraser as Charlie, a reclusive English teacher who tips the scale at over 600 pounds after eating to cope with loss....

Last night, a report surfaced indicating that the comedy sequel Bridget Jones’ Baby was in turmoil, with actor Hugh Grant leaving the project due to a delay in production. Today, Working Title Films’ co-chairman Tim Bevan issued a statement, which confirms the production delay, but debunks the rumor that Hugh Grant has stepped away from the follow-up film. We last reported on this project back in November, when director Peter Cattaneo signed on to the sequel....

Bring It On: All or Nothing, the latest DVD Original from Universal Studios Home Entertainment, scored consumer sales of $12 million in its first week in stores, making it the second-highest debut of a live-action DVD premiere in history, following Universal’s American Pie: Band Camp, which sold over a million units in its initial outing. Released August 8, 2006, the third installment of the hugely popular competitive cheerleading comedy franchise sold more than 750,000 units, 50% more than its DVD Original predecessor Bring it On Again in its first seven days....

While we won’t see a repeat of Britney Spears’ performance from last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, we can expect to see Spears kicking off this year’s show. According to The Hollywood Repoter, Britney Spears will not be performing at this year’s VMA’s, but the network has confirmed she will opening the awards show. Sin Nombre director Cary Fukunaga is in talks to direct Jane Eyre, the feature adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s novel for Ruby Films. According to Variety, Moira Buffini has written the script. Buffini is fast becoming one of the U.K.’s hottest scribes thanks to her adaptation of Posy Simmonds’ graphic novel Tamara Drewe for director Stephen Frears. The film will play up the gothic elements of the classic 19th century story about a governess who falls in love with her surly employer who has a dark secret....

Filled to the brim with exciting cameos, Spider-Man: No Way Home saw Charlie Cox make his triumphant return as Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil. The City of New York and Columbia Pictures announced today that the week of April 30 through May 6 will be “Spider-Man Week In NYC.” A variety of festivities are planned for all five boroughs, involving New York City landmarks such as the Central Park and Bronx Zoos, the American Museum of Natural History and the Apollo Theater. A highlight of the week will be the Tribeca Film Festival’s premiere of “Spider- Man 3” in Queens, Peter Parker’s hometown, with additional screenings in all boroughs....

Movies are meant to make audiences have some type of reaction. They are meant to make you go through different emotions while watching. They are meant to make you think about it even after the movie has ended. Filmmakers have not done their jobs if audiences did not feel at least one emotion during the course of the movie. Even if people just laugh or cry, the movie has done its job because it evokes an emotion or a feeling....
