Whether they are tales of derring-do in the skies (Aces High), warts-and-all narratives about life for the average Tommy on the Western Front (The Trench, 1917), or grandiose biopics about famous figures (The Red Baron), cinematic depictions of what was hoped to be the war to end all wars are frequently big box-office pulls....

Captain America: The First Avenger is gearing up for a worldwide release on July 22, although it will be released under a different title in Russia, Ukraine, and South Korea. It is fairly typical for a studio to change the title of a movie for its overseas release. Most recently, The Hangover Part II was released under the title Very Bad Trip 2 in France. Paramount was planning on releasing Captain America: The First Avenger under the shortened title The First Avenger in most international territories....

Television history’s friendliest ghost will soon return to the small screen. Variety reports that NBCUniversal will reboot Casper the Friendly Ghost with a new live-action series for the streaming service Peacock. Netflix’s The Ghost Bride creator Kai Yu Wu (Hannibal, The Flash) will write and executive produce the new Casper series. UCP and DreamWorks Animation are co-producing. Unconnected to the previous live-action adaptation that premiered in theaters in 1995, this new take on Casper is a horror/adventure series that’s said to “reimagine” Casper’s origin story....

Everybody loves a feel-good ending. But sometimes, the characters who get them just don’t seem to have earned them. Whether they’ve made poor choices, hurt others, or just plain old messed up, these characters somehow manage to wiggle their way into a happily ever after that they don’t really deserve. It’s not that we want these characters to suffer (well, maybe some of them), but rather that their happy endings feel unearned or even downright frustrating....

The famous house in Cleveland that was used for the Parker family home in A Christmas Story is currently up for sale, and as it turns out, it just might be bought by some of the holiday classic’s cast members. ABC is making Desperate Housewives and Lost the first network entertainment shows available for download on a subscription basis via Apple’s iTunes. In addition, Scrubs, the NBC laffer produced by Alphabet sibling Touchstone Television, is expected to make its iTunes debut today, accrding to Variety. As for Lost and DH, consumers can now buy the entire current season of both Touchstone TV-produced shows on iTunes for $34.99 – about $14 less than what a full season would cost if episodes were bought individually....

Months after his involvement in the deadly accident on the set of the Western movie Rust, Alec Baldwin is looking to move forward with his acting career. In October 2021, Baldwin - a producer and lead star of the film - had reportedly been preparing for a scene that required his character to draw and aim his weapon. A live round that had somehow gotten mixed in with the dummy ammunition was discharged from the firearm at this time, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza....
