A&E Network has picked up a third season of the critically acclaimed original series Bates Motel, it was announced today by David McKillop, Executive Vice President and General Manager, A&E Network, who released the following statement. Season 2 premiered on March 3rd with 4.6 million total viewers and delivered 2.6 million adults 18-49 and 2.2 million adults 25-54 (based on Live+7 viewing). “Bates Motel” continues to be A&E’s #1 drama series of all time among adults 18-49....

The high-profile defamation trial involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard could start back up all over again. After a six-week-long trial that culminated with the jury siding heavily with Depp, Heard has maintained that she did not fabricate her accusations of domestic violence as her ex-husband argued. Her attorneys vowed to appeal the decision, but they may not have to if the verdict gets tossed. And that could very well happen if a judge agrees with Heard’s legal team that a fraudulent juror nullifies the verdict....

It seems a long-gestating adaptation of a 1957 Ayn Rand will start production next month. Deadline New York is reporting that Atlas Shrugged will begin filming on June 11. The film is being overseen by entrepreneur John Aglialoro, who paid $1 million for the rights to the book back in 1992. It was said that Aglialoro’s plan was to make four feature films out of the sprawling book, with Stephen Polk making his feature directorial debut on the film, from a script by Brian O’Tool....

Mandate Pictures announced today that the company has acquired an untitled comedy pitch based on an idea by Aziz Ansari and Emmy Award-winning 30 Rock writer Matt Hubbard, to be produced by Rough House Pictures.
