A new film adaptation will pit two high-profile actors against each other. Deadline New York is reporting that Cameron Diaz and Benicio Del Toro have been attached to the new film project An Ex to Grind. The film will be based off the novel of the same name by Jane Heller, which centers on a battling couple played by Diaz and Del Toro. The story starts out with Del Toro as a famous athlete who will do anything to support his waitress wife, but after his career is cut short by an injury, the tables have turned and she’s now a successful businesswoman and he’s a lazy couch potato....

From Star Wars to Lord of the Rings, battles in fictional settings can be some of the most exciting things to watch in a movie. These battles, of course, wouldn’t happen without the armies that fight in them, and often these armies can be cool too, whether it be their lore or their aesthetic. Fox Searchlight announced on their Inside Searchlight blog that the Darren Aronofsky film Black Swan will open in theaters nationwide on December 1. It was also recently announced that Black Swan will be the opening film of the Venice International Film Festival on September 1. PREDICTED WEEKEND BOX OFFICE While most people were predicting that Zack Snyder’s computer animated 3D family film Legend of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole would be the number one movie last weekend, they were surprised to find that “greed is still good” as Oliver Stone’s long awaited sequel to his classic ’80s film Wall Street, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps rose to the top of the box office with $19 million....

It’s the holiday season but at the same time, it’s also awards season. The 79th Golden Globe nominations have officially been announced with Belfast and The Power of the Dog leading the film categories with 7 nominations each. On the television side, Succession received the most nominations with 5 and both Ted Lasso and The Morning Show came in second with 4 each. The announcements came via Snoop Dogg. Netflix leads the number of nominations for motion picture distributors with 17 total for movies including The Power of the Dog, Tick, Tick…BOOM!...

According to Variety, less than two months before its December 14 release, Universal Pictures has doubled down, agreeing to release Peter Jackson’s three-hour cut, which will push the budget to $207 million. The budget on the great ape epic went up primarily because of the additional FX work needed. Jackson and U had originally contemplated a running time of around two and half hours, with a budget around $175 million....

Nashville Star, the nation’s top-rated country music series, will kick off episode seven with an opening performance by country music superstar Hank Williams, Jr. of his current hit “That’s How They Do It In Dixie,” while rock icons Scott Weiland and Duff McKagan of Velvet Revolver sit in as guest judges, it was announced today by Libby Hansen, USA Network’s vice president of alternative series & specials. Episode seven will broadcast live on Tuesday, April 25 at 10:00 PM ET on USA Network....

After being announced late last year, it looks like the Hawkeye spin-off series Echo is set to start filming on tomorrow. Starring Alaqua Cox, the series will follow Maya Lopez, who made her debut as the antagonist of the Hawkeye series that came to a conclusion in December. Lopez was the second deaf character to appear in the MCU following the introduction of Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) in Eternals, and her new series will certainly shine a light on the character who was last seen supposedly shooting Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio)....

The Hills Have Eyes helmer Alexandre Aja is attached to direct an English-language bigscreen adaptation of the French bestseller The Gospel According to Jimmy, according to Variety. Rights to the book, by Goncourt winner Didier Van Cauwelaert, were acquired recently by Alexandre Films, the Gallic production company of Aja’s director-producer father, Alexandre Arcady. The company produced Aja’s first film and co-produced High Tension with Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp. Set in the near future, The Gospel According to Jimmy tells the story of a pool cleaner in L....

Production began earlier this week on Season 2 of American Horror Story, with a slew of new cast members and a few familiar faces returning, including Jessica Lange. Today, we have word that actress Clea DuVall has signed on for a multi-episode arc. No details were given regarding the actress’ new character, although it is believed that she will appear in scenes with Sarah Paulson, who played the medium Billie Dean Howard in Season 1....

It was widely reported last week that actress Angelina Jolie was dropping out of the sequel Wanted 2 so that she could take part in Alfonso Cuaron’s upcoming film Gravity. Now Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Jolie has dropped out of that project as well. The script for Wanted 2 had been completed and Universal was set to move ahead with the production. Because Jolie’s assassin played such a huge role in the film, production has stopped and it’s not known whether or not the project will move ahead....
