Syfy is readying an exciting all-new chapter in the Battlestar Galactica saga with a greenlight for Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome from Executive Producer David Eick, it was announced today by Mark Stern, EVP of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions. Universal Cable Productions will produce the 2-hour pilot with Syfy utilizing cutting edge CGI and virtual technology. Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war....

IMAX Corporation, Paramount Pictures, Shangri-La Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that Beowulf, the latest film from Academy Award winning director Robert Zemeckis, the filmmaker behind such box office successes as Forrest Gump, The Polar Express, the Back To The Future series and What Lies Beneath, will be released domestically in IMAX 3D simultaneously with the motion picture’s premiere in conventional theatres on November 16, 2007. The film will be released internationally within three weeks of the domestic launch....

It seems every movie to come out these days needs to be as large-scale as possible. This isn’t, of course, to say they’re not great — they certainly are critically and commercially successful. Indeed, there’s so much story to be had by movies with no physical boundaries. They’re excellent at immersing the viewer in out-of-this-world adventures. Sometimes, however, simplicity is great too. Some of the best scenes in movies aren’t world-shaking fights or buildings exploding....

If there’s one thing that makes a horror movie even creepier, it’s the kids. Whether it be Sinister 2, in which spirits of dead children haunt a boy, or Hereditary, in which a dead 12-year-old girl ends up possessing her mother’s body after a séance went wrong. There’s just something about kids in horror movies that is scary enough to give you a heart attack. It has been rightly said, “there is no greater sound than a child’s laughter unless you’re in a horror movie”....

Blades of Glory earned the top spot for the second week in a row at the box office. The Will Ferrell/Jon Heder comedy took in $23 million for a two-week total of $68.3 million, according to Box Office Mojo. Meet the Robinsons stayed at number two with $17 million, and a two week total of $52.2 million. Ice Cube’s Are We Done Yet? debuted with $15 million over the weekend, and a five day total of $19 million (it opened on Wednesday)....

There has been no other actor in Hollywood who has had a career like Bruce Willis. Since getting his start on ABC’s Moonlighting, Willis has proven to be an actor with range by playing both a leading man and an ensemble character in Pulp Fiction (1994). His ability to play both savvy and rough has helped him build the reputation of being the man of the people. Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson have put out a casting call for The Hobbit, the live-action adaptation of Tolkien’s classic fantasy tales. Both filmmakers have previously announced their preference for working with unknown actors, rather than making offers to established actors. Saturday morning cartoons, after school cartoons, seasonal cartoon TV specials, and animated features all hold a special place in the heart of a lot of viewers. As a child, cartoons entertained and enthralled, a lot of times they were the “babysitter” for the child when when they got home from school, or the morning friend and companion when the child woke up early on a Saturday morning, sometimes before the sun was completely up....

Alison Sudol, aka A Fine Frenzy, will make her acting debut on the season opener for CSI: NY, which airs Wednesday, September 26th (10:00-11:00PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Sudol will also perform two songs: “Almost Lover,” the lead single from One Cell in the Sea, A Fine Frenzy’s debut, and “Last of Days,” another track from the album. “Almost Lover” is already in the Top 30 at Mainstream AC radio and has been added by AC stations such as WLTW-New York, the most listened to station in the country, and KOST-Los Angeles where it is getting Top 10 airplay at both....

ABC has released the first promo for next week’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., “The Only Light in the Darkness”, which offers a brief glimpse at guest star Amy Acker as Audrey, the Portland-based cellist and longtime girlfriend of Coulson (Clark Gregg). We got our first look at the character last month when the actress was confirmed to guest star. Audrey was briefly teased in Marvel’s The Avengers during a conversation between Coulson and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow)....

It seems like just yesterday that Clark Gregg was showing off some of the first new images and video from the set of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7. The show is about to launch its final episodes, and now we know when that is happening. Today, ABC has officially announced that the Marvel series will begin its end this summer. Yes, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 will premier on May 27....

Saturday was a big day for Marvel Television as it was announced that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 is set to premiere on December 1st. They also revealed the first trailer for Marvel’s Runaways. For those lucky enough to be in attendance for the Marvel panel at New York Comic-Con, a 20-minute teaser for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 was also previewed, which has yet to make its way online as of this writing, which means that it more than likely will not make it online, much like the mythical Avengers: Infinity War teaser that premiered at the D23 Expo and San Diego Comic-Con over the summer....

The hot thing in Hollywood at the moment is to shut down production on a big name potential franchise to get the budget scaled back. It happened to Lone Ranger, it happened to The Dark Tower, and now its happened to the stateside live-action remake of the popular anime Akira; a movie that genre fans don’t seem too keen on anyway. Warner Bros. has halted pre-production on Akira, shutting down the Vancouver offices....

ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has brought on Amy Acker to guest star as Audrey, the lover of Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg). While the character has never been seen before, this Portland-based cellist was mentioned in Marvel’s The Avengers, during a conversation between Coulson and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow). Audrey, who has been impressing Portland music fans with her talent, still believes that Coulson is dead, unaware that he is actually protecting her from afar as a threat from her past begins to re-emerge....

MSN announced that beginning November 21 episodes of the Emmy award-winning comedy Arrested Development will be streamed on demand on MSN Video and at no cost to viewers. The first five episodes are available at arresteddevelopment.msn.com and, starting Dec. 15, three new episodes will be added every three weeks. All 53 episodes from the three seasons of the show will be rolled out within the next year. The Arrested Development episodes will be running with a new MSN Video player designed to create a better viewing experience of long-form video....

It looks like Beetlejuice 2 could finally end up happening. On Monday, it was reported by The Ankler that the long-rumored sequel has finally taken a step forward with Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B Entertainment, producing the feature. According to the report, Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are both expected to reprise their respective role as Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz. If given the green light by Warner Bros., the potential sequel could start filming as early as this summer which would likely mean a 2023 release date....
