Black Mirror debuted in 2011 in the U.K. on Channel 4. The second season aired in 2013. Netflix picked up the anthology series from Charlie Brooker in 2014 and thus far, Black Mirror has had 22 episodes across five seasons and has won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie three consecutive times for the episodes San Junipero, USS Callister, and Bandersnatch. The series is modeled off the best TV anthologies of all time, such as The Twilight Zone, and storylines are set mostly in the near future using technology that isn’t available today but isn’t hard to imagine being available sometime soon....

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE As predicted last week the buddy-cop comedy The Other Guys was knocked out of the number one spot by the testosterone-filled action movie The Expendables after only one week on top of the box office charts. But with five new films entering the charts this week including the remake of the classic horror film Piranha 3D, the family film Nanny McPhee Returns, and the comedies Lottery Ticket, Vampires Suck and The Switch, Stallone and his boys had their hands full defending the number one position but came up on top for a second week in a row....

Charles Cullen has captured the interest of many true-crime fans with the recently released movie The Good Nurse, which can be streamed on Netflix. The film follows the story of the serial killer nurse responsible for an estimated 400 patient deaths. Although Cullen claimed the body count was somewhere around 30-40, only 29 could be confirmed. But due to his method of killing, there may have been even more deaths that Cullen was responsible for and not aware of....

Film and television have been looked to not only as entertainment, but as a means of bonding over specific cultures. Cisgender heterosexual people were always depicted on-screen without question. It was viewed as normalcy that hadn’t a need to be censored or restricted. As such, stories and series in cinema history have revolved around conventional and conservative family units that promoted them as the ideal standard in civilizations. Major studios were hesitant to share the stories of LGBTQIA+ people and began to rely on “queer-coding” methods to convey ideas that certain characters could be non-heterosexual without having to explicitly mention queer themes....

In a Dancing with the Stars first, three athletes will dance to the finish in the fourth season of the hugely popular series, returning MONDAY, MARCH 19 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. Among the athletes are a current Olympic Gold Medalist, a member of the 1992 Men’s U.S. Olympic Basketball Dream Team, and an undefeated female boxer - the first female athlete to compete on the series. “Mighty Times: The Children’s March,” the Academy Award winning short documentary of 2004, will be screened with “Home of the Brave” for the February 15 installment of the Contemporary Documentary Series, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy Foundation and the UCLA Film and Television Archive. Free and open to the public, the screening begins at 7:30 p.m. in the James Bridges Theater on the UCLA campus....

In an American Idol first, some of the Top 24 semifinalists will be revealed in a special two-hour event airing Tuesday, Feb. 16(8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. On Tuesday evening, the remaining contestants will take the stage to perform their final solo number in front of Simon, Ellen, Kara and Randy in hopes of singing their way into the Top 24.
