The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by American Express, today announced its feature film selections in the Spotlight and Cinemania sections, as well as Special Screenings and the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival lineup. The 10th edition of the Festival will take place from April 20 to May 1 in lower Manhattan. “Now that the majority of the program has been announced I believe you will see the rich variety and quality of the films and talent that we are presenting at Tribeca this year,” said David Kwok, Director of Programming....

Although The Batman may have come to an end, fans of the Dark Knight won’t have to wait too long before Batman returns to the television. World’s Finest Online reports that Batman: The Brave and the Bold will begin airing on Cartoon Network in March 2009. The new series, which takes it’s name from a DC Comic title, will pair Batman with other heroes drawn from the pages of DC Comics....

Animation today announced the creation and launch of a new Batman: The Brave and the Bold web site based on the Cartoon Network (CartoonNetwork.com) series which premiered Friday, November 14, and airs Fridays at 8 PM ET/PT. William O. Perkins, founder and President of LLeju Productions announced today that Academy Award Winner Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria have joined the cast of The Baytown Disco. Perkins, through his LLeju Productions banner optioned the script, controls the rights, and is financing and producing. Robert Teitel (Notorious) from State Street Pictures is producing alongside LLeju Productions. Serinda Swan, Clayne Crawford, Thomas Sangster and Meagan Good will co-star in the film which begins lensing in Louisiana on May 2nd....

Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam journey may not be as integral to the future of the DCU as the former wrestler has led fans to believe. After initial reports that Black Adam was set to lose money for Warner Bros. Discovery, these were countered by a belief that the movie could actually end up turning a profit, albeit a small one for such a high profile release. Now, after it was suggested that Black Adam 2 could be in development, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that multiple sources have said the film will not be moving forward....

The Blu-ray disc association said on Thursday it aimed to replace the DVD storage format within three years. “Within three years it will just be Blu-ray,” Frank Simonis, the Blu-ray Disc Association’s European chairman, said at the CeBIT technology trade show. Blu-ray, which offers five times more storage capacity than DVDs for storing high definition films and other content, will first have to beat the rival HD-DVD format which offers somewhat lower storage capacity but claims cheaper production of players, burners and discs....
