The 1990s saw the horror genre transform with some of the best scares and captivating, terrifying cinematography. We saw some of the best slasher movies being remade and franchises being created, taking horror to a whole new level, with movies such as Wes Craven’s New Nightmare and Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III for example. International horror movies, however, have their own spooktacular style and approach, and in the 1990s, global horror cinema roared and scared its way into our lives in a big way, with international horror becoming arguably more popular than it had ever been before....

The debut dates for the new seasons of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire and Treme have been confirmed. The 12-episode Season 3 of Boardwalk Empire kicks off Sunday, Sept. 16 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT). It seems that the filmmaker who first brought us mutants might return to the franchise after all. Geek Files recently reprinted an interview that Total Film conducted with director Bryan Singer, who revealed that he might be interested in directing X-Men Origins: Magneto. Singer also wasn’t sure about directing a Superman Returns follow-up as well. “Possibly. Production begins today on location in Minnesota on A Serious Man, for Focus Features and Working Title Films. Joel and Ethan Coen, Academy Award winners for No Country for Old Men and Fargo, are writing, producing, and directing the film. Working Title co-chairs Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are executive-producing the film with Robert Graf, who has worked on the Coens’ last six features in various producing capacities.
