Music and film have always been inextricably linked, whether it be through a combination of both as seen in great movie musicals musicals like Grease, Hairspray, and La La Land, or that a dramatic movie is about musicians, like Walk the Line and Ray. Most commonly, it’s just the importance of a film’s soundtrack. Movie scores have the ability to make or break a movie; the music often dictates the tempo, genre, and emotion of a screenplay, combining with the picture to create a truly cinematic experience....

On the surface, it seems like horror and superheroes wouldn’t mix well. The hope and mostly feel-good conclusions that superhero films inspire in the audience doesn’t typically mesh with the drab and often uneasy feeling that viewers are left with after a bleaker horror story. Since acclaimed horror director Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Drag Me to Hell) signed on to helm the MCU’s highly anticipated Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, rumors have spread that the film will have the most horror elements of anything done in the MCU thus far....

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter Brooke Shields is coming back to the big screen after a 10 year hiatus. She will be acting in Summit Entertainment and Participant Media’s live-action family comedy Furry Vengeance. Also joining the cast are Dick Van Dyke, Ken Jeong and Samantha Bee Brendan Fraser is starring in this film from Roger Kumble. Fraser plays a real estate developer who moves his family from Chicago to Oregon when his job calls for him to oversee the building of a major housing development....

As fun as it would have been to see Bruce Campbell play Mysterio, it doesn’t seem that this rumored casting was ever meant to be. For years, there have been rumors that Campbell would have been director Sam Raimi’s pick to play Mysterio in his unmade sequel Spider-Man 4. This seems to be based on storyboard images, said to be for the ill-fated film, that features illustrated images of Mysterio getting unmasked....

Catherine Hardwicke will next direct The Monkey Wrench Gang, based on Edward Abbey’s anti-establishment classic of the same name, according to Production Weekly. Publication of Abbey’s novel in 1975 gave rise to a new generation of environmentalists who practiced “monkey-wrenching” - sabotage for the sake of saving the Earth. The story concerns a motley group of environmental warriors who wage mayhem against road builders and other developers in southern Utah....

The ABC Television Network announced early pick-up’s of America’s Funniest Home Videos, “Supernannny,” and “Wife Swap” today. America’s Funniest Home Videos was picked up for a record breaking18th season, while both “Supernanny” and “Wife Swap” were picked-up for fourth seasons. The longest running primetime entertainment show in ABC history, America’s Funniest Home Videos has kept America laughing for 17 seasons with animal antics, practical jokes and hilarious footage of what happens when adults, children and even inanimate objects are at their spontaneous best....

As stated by The Hollywood Reporter, the beloved Today anchor Al Roker finally returned to Studio 1A this Friday after more than a two-month absence related to a serious health scare. The longstanding NBC weather anchor and co-host joined Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie at the beginning of the Today show, walking to the anchor desk with the assistance of a cane. Roker said, “I have missed you guys so very much, you are my second family, and it is just great to be back....

For Alison Brie, there hasn’t been anything worse happen to her career than when her pro wrestling series GLOW got the boot at Netflix. Debuting on Netflix in 2017, GLOW is inspired by the real-life pro wrestling league Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, aka GLOW. After three seasons, the show had been renewed for season 4, leading Brie and the rest of the cast to prepare for another season. In 2020, Netflix reversed course and canceled the series, shutting down production on season 4 due to the pandemic....

The first week of audience voting produced yet another highlight for the record-breaking sixth season of American Idol, as approximately 32 million votes were cast after Tuesday and Wednesday’s performance shows. Last night, on this season’s first results show, the four semifinalists - two girls and two guys - who received the fewest votes were eliminated from the competition. It was revealed that the American Idol journey has ended for Rudy Cardenas, Paul Kim, Amy Krebs and Nicole Tranquillo....

Anchor Bay has some Hatchet plans for 2007! In a story from Home Media Retailing, they report that Anchor Bay Entertainment has picked up the home video and theatrical rights to the film Hatchet. It will be released April 13 from Starz Home Entertainment. Synopsis: When a group of tourists on a New Orleans haunted swamp tour find themselves stranded in the wilderness, their evening of fun and spooks turns into a horrific nightmare....

The Cuban-born actor goes back to his roots for this very intimate film Life was a lot different in Cuba in the 1950’s from what it is now - Fidel Castro was not in power and the Cuban people loved being in the country. And to top it of, music came alive in clubs all across the country. But it all changed with the Cuban Revolution; Cubans never had the same rights they had before....

That ambitious Django / Zorro movie is no longer happening, and perhaps Antonio Banderas is more disappointed about that than anyone. Back in 2019, it was reported that Quentin Tarantino had written a screenplay for a Django Unchained sequel that was based on the Django / Zorro comic books. Tarantino had reportedly hired Jerrod Carmichael to work on a new screenplay for the crossover, and just recently, Carmichael confirmed that the project has been scrapped....

Avatar: The Way of Water, helmed by acclaimed director James Cameron, has become a box office sensation in typical Avatar fashion. Despite having its opening weekend numbers below expectations, the sequel proved to have staying power and is now set to hit the $1 billion milestone in only 12 days after its release. Avatar still stands as the highest-grossing film of all time and Avatar: The Way of Water looks to be no slouch either....

James Cameron’s 3D blockbuster is still making big bucks in theaters, although that might not stop a DVD and BD release in the next few months. The Wall Street Journal recently spoke with Cameron who revealed that an April 22 date has been set for the DVD and Blu-ray of Avatar… but don’t hold your breath if you want a lot of special features. Fox Home Entertainment wouldn’t confirm that release date to the site, so nothing is official as of yet, but, coincidentally, April 22 is also another celebrated date: Earth Day....
