New Films International has acquired worldwide rights to Christopher B. Landon’s Burning Palms starring an ensemble cast including Zoe Saldana, Dylan McDermott, Paz Vega and Rosamund Pike. Burning Palms is a dark comedy that interlaces five stories set in different Los Angeles neighborhoods, where no taboo is left unexplored as each character careens toward a dark and often comic fate. Nesim Hason, President of New Films International and New Films Cinema states, “We are excited to be distributing Burning Palms Worldwide and we are planning the US theatrical release for early 2011....

Pixar strikes gold once again with “Cars”. It is a wonderfully imaginative film. Filled with just the right amount of nostalgia and sentimentality to win over audiences of all ages. “Cars” was initially slated for a November 2005 release, but according to Pixar; was held back for the more profitable summer movie season. Now each time a film is delayed usually spells trouble. That, combined with a lackluster marketing campaign and uninspired preview trailers had me convinced Pixar had finally taken a step back....

Another longtime cast member has left Saturday Night Live. On Saturday night, ahead of the new episode hosted by Austin Butler, it was revealed by the show that Cecily Strong is making her exit. The announcement was made on Twitter with an image of a whiteboard featuring the phrase, “We’ll miss you, Cecily!” The tweet adds, “Tonight we send off one of the best to ever do it. We’ll miss you, Cecily!...

There’s only one T’Challa, and that’s Chadwick Boseman. After the sudden and shocking death of the Black Panther star last year, plans were halted on the upcoming sequel as Marvel Studios worked with the cast and crew to figure out the best way to move forward. Very early on in the process, Kevin Feige had noted that there were no plans to recast T’Challa for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, nor would he be added to the movie with CGI....

While the trailer does not reveal what this threat is, it appears to be something extraterrestrial. A cop who stops them appears to be possessed by some entity and Riz Ahmed himself appears to be possessed by the same thing later on. Al Pacino has signed on for the lead role in King Lear, director Michael Radford’s adaptation of the Shakespeare play. According to Variety, Radford wrote the script, and is making his second Shakespearean foray with Pacino after their 2004 collaboration The Merchant of Venice, which cast Pacino as Shylock. The film will be produced by Barry Navidi, who teamed with Pacino on The Merchant of Venice as well as the upcoming Salomaybe?...

Amandla Stenberg will star in The Acolyte, a Disney+ series set in the Star Wars universe that will begin production this fall. Back in December, rumors circulated about Stenberg’s participation in the project, but the news was confirmed today, when the official Star Wars account took to twitter to welcome Stenberg to the Star Wars galaxy. The Acolyte will go back to centuries before Star Wars: Episode I- The Phantom Menace, during the height of the High Republic, when Jedi were at peak strength and the Sith were eradicated....

That popular petition for Amber Heard to be removed from the upcoming sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has just reached a major milestone. As the televised trial between Heard and ex-husband Johnny Depp continues, the petition gained some new traction as more and more people became aware of the situation. Bob Odenkirk and Giancarlo Esposito may finally be done with the world of Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad; however, the pair are confirmed to return to the AMC Network with two new shows. Straight Man and Parish were just officially announced with a greenlight from AMC and will air sometime in 2023. Technically speaking, there is a sequel to the 2000 thriller American Psycho, but it had nothing to do with Wall Street anti-hero and serial killer Patrick Bateman as personified by Christian Bale. American Psycho II: All American Girl was a cheap direct-to-DVD knock off starring Mila Kunis that only had a minor connection to Bret Easton Ellis’ original creation. The novel was published in 1991, and the film adaptation quickly became a cult hit upon its release on April 14th of 2000....

Aptly titled American Reunion, the original cast from the 1999 blockbuster comedy - American Pie, returns to East Great Falls with lewd shenanigans galore. The seventh film in the series; the filmmakers make a decent effort of recapturing the casting magic that made the first a success. We pick up with Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) married with a two year old. Their sex life has become nonexistent. Oz (Chris Klein) is a famous sports personality, with a girlfriend that’s a little too adventurous for his taste....

Angelina Jolie is in talks to star and Darren Aronofsky is in talks to direct a big-screen adaptation of Ron Rash’s 2008 period tome Serena: A Novel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Kyle (The Weight of Water, K-19: The Widowmaker) wrote the screenplay for the project, which is being produced by Nick Wechsler, the man behind recent high-profile adaptation such as The Road, The Time Traveler’s Wife and Reservation Road....

The outbursts over Batgirl’s cancelation haven’t toned down. Ever since David Zaslav shelved the DCEU movie after it had wrapped filming, fans and the film’s cast and crew have shown extensive disappointment over the decision. Batgirl was the sort of film that would have helped the DC Extended Universe to become more expansive with new characters entering the fold. Now the film is shelved, there is no telling how DC Films and Warner Bros....

With the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the MCU has now unlocked the seemingly unlimited possibilities of multiple film franchise-minging within its own films. There has already been tons of speculation that the MCU will include characters from past Marvel films in Sam Raimi’s upcoming Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, like Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine from the X-Men film franchise and Eric Bana’s Bruce Banner from Hulk. Of course, this also opens up the potential for bringing in actors from pre-2000s Marvel films as well....

Last January, director James Cameron revealed he is planning to release Avatar 2 in December 2014, and Avatar 3 in December 2015.
