TNT has ordered a pilot for Lumen, an exciting fantasy about a family locked in an alternate world, to be produced by TNT Original Productions in association with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, Full Fathom Five and ABC Signature Studios. The pilot is set to be directed by Joe Johnston (Captain America: The First Avenger, Jumanji, The Rocketeer) from a script by Chris Black (Mad Men, Desperate Housewives). Serving as executive producers on the Lumen pilot will be Amblin Television co-presidents Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey (The Americans, Red Band Society, Falling Skies); international best-selling author James Frey (A Million Little Pieces, Endgame) and Todd Cohen (Ugly Betty, The Tudors, The Office) of Full Fathom Five; and Joe Johnston and Chris Black....

Carol Burnett, a Hollywood institution, will be joining an already impressive cast of the Apple TV+ comedy series Mrs. American Pie, according to Variety. The 10-episode sitcom also stars SNL alum Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney (Mom), Leslie Bibb, Josh Lucas, and Ricky Martin. The 89-year-old will star as Norma, the grande dame of Palm Beach high society’s bourgeoisie club. Best known for hosting the variety sketch series The Carol Burnett Show on CBS from 1967 to 1978, Burnett is a six-time Emmy winner overall, with her show having won 25 Emmy Awards throughout its run....

The workplace happenings of a popular live comedy show reach new levels of hilarity when 30 Rock: Season 1 comes to DVD on September 4, 2007 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Nominated for ten 2007 Primetime Emmy Awards including best actor, best actress, best comedy writing and best comedy series, 30 Rock is created and executive produced by Tina Fey, who previously won an Emmy for her writing on NBC’s Saturday Night Live....

Just three months after signing with Sony Pictures, Aardman has unveiled its plans for the future. According to Variety, the animation studio has a couple of interesting projects up its sleeve. Including what they are calling a “family-friendly Tarantino” picture. Creative director Sarah Smith is supervising the upcoming lineup. She has hired writers Matthew Graham and Ashley Pharaoh, the team behind the BBC’s popular Life on Mars, to work with director Steve Box on a comedy heist entitled The Cat Burglars....

Allison Williams is a very talented actress who has already had an extremely successful career. Her work has spanned across several genres, including action, horror, and drama. At the same time, she has had a successful theater career, and earned a Critics Choice Award for her performance in Peter Pan Live!. Although Williams played a sensible and somewhat innocent character in her breakout role in Girls, she also proved that she can play a sinister character in Jordan Peele’s Get Out....

Neil Gaiman delivered the Good Omens teaser trailer this afternoon at NYCC and took part in the panel for the upcoming series. Yesterday, the author took part in the American Gods panel, which was moderated by comedian Patton Oswalt. Good Omens is a six-part television series based on the Fantasy Award nominated 1990 novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman....

Dear Hollywood sequel-making folks, Greetings from the Land of 10,000 Lakes, ladies and gentlemen. We’re halfway through the summer movie season and we have most of the big-name sequels behind us. Sure there are a few that are coming up that I do want to check out (See: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Bourne Ultimatum) but the rest I can live without (See: Rush Hour 3, Daddy Day Camp)....

Spoiler Warning: Andor Season One Andor episode 9, “Nobody’s Listening,” might have been the tensest yet. A prison break begins to take shape as Cassian Andor and his fellow inmates start to learn the truth about the prison. Andor’s friends are tortured, and we see the true face of Vel Sartha. Syril Karn also proves he has a psychotic obsession with what happened on Ferrix. With Andor proving to follow its 3-episode story arc, viewers can likely hope for a prison break next episode....

Playing one of the world’s most popular superheroes is one thing, but the Clown Prince of Crime? Perhaps that’s a bit too much to ask for. At least, that’s going to be the case if a casting director comes knocking on Andrew Garfield’s door to inquire about playing the Joker. Of course, Garfield is very well known for his role as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man, which is coupled with rumors of his return in No Way Home next month, but taking on the role of such a dastardly supervillain would be completely new for the actor....

Quentin Tarantino has been receiving a wave of backlash for his comments that Marvel stars are “not movie stars.” However, it seems that the new Captain America agrees with him but just had a better way of explaining the thought process behind it. In his recent interview with the 2 Bears, 1 Cave podcast, Tarantino seemed to put down actors who appear as Marvel characters, saying, “they’re not movie stars, right?...

Earlier this week, we reported that Arnold Schwarzenegger will return to The Terminator franchise, although now it seems that won’t be his next movie. A new report indicates the former California governor will star in Cry Macho as his first film out of office. Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer) will direct this drama from his own screenplay, which is adapted from the N. Richard Nash novel of the same name. The story centers on a horse trainer who is fired by his boss and ends up agreeing to kidnap his boss’ 11-year-old son from his Mexican ex-wife....
