It is not uncommon for a major network or a streaming service to develop a film or series surrounding a real-life crime case. Some famous movies and series based on crime cases were Netflix’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 and The Keepers, Lifetime’s Cleveland Abduction, 2007’s Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Ruffalo starrer Zodiac, and many more. One such case that made headlines was the gruesome murder of Betty Gore back in 1980, famously known as the Candy Montgomery case....

Fans are missing the legendary Carrie Fisher after six years, her passing still seeming like it was just yesterday for some. Beloved for her popular role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, Fisher passed away on Dec. 27, 2016, when she was just 60 years old. The following day, her mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, also died at 84 after suffering a stroke while grieving. It was all a very sad sequence of events that still has fans in mourning on the sixth anniversary of Fisher’s death....

Recently, there has been a huge uproar on Twitter about the end of the legendary TV channel, but Cartoon Network isn’t actually going anywhere. Their animation department is merging with Warner Bros. Discovery. Although it’s not as big news as the end of Cartoon Network, it’s still a pretty big deal. When Twitter started exaggerating it, memes showed up that listed Cartoon Network’s lifespan of 1992-2022, and they responded, surprised to find out they were dying....

CBS announced today its new 2012-2013 primetime schedule, ordering four new series and making four key time period moves to further enhance television’s top-rated schedule. CBS will finish the season as America’s most-watched network for the ninth time in the past 10 years, leading in viewers by the widest margin of any network in 23 years. The new series include Elementary, a contemporary take on the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes in New York City, starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu; Vegas, a drama inspired by a real-life sheriff and his battle with a powerful mobster for control of Las Vegas in the 1960s, starring Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis; Made in Jersey, starring Janet Montgomery as a smart first-year lawyer with working-class roots practicing at a prestigious Manhattan law firm; and Partners, a comedy about two very different life-long best friends and business partners and their significant others, starring David Krumholtz and Michael Urie....

Sony Pictures Classics has released two clips for the comedy Celeste and Jesse Forever, directed by Lee Toland Krieger and co-written by star Rashida Jones. The writer-actress plays Celeste alongside Andy Samberg as Jesse, two lifelong friends who got married, and then divorced, only to remain best friends throughout their separation. Take a look at these scenes where Celeste shoots down a potential suitor, and another where she runs into Jesse while on a date with Max (Mad Men’s Rich Sommer)....

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today the ten nominations for the Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures category that will advance in the voting process for the 21st Annual PGA Awards, which will take place on Sunday, January 24th at the Hollywood Palladium. 20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to Isaac Asimov’s futuristic novel The Caves of Steel, which was first published in 1954. Henry Hobson has been tapped to direct, while John Scott 3 will write the screenplay adaptation. The story is set 1,000 years in the future, where humans have grown increasingly more paranoid of robots, who perform laborious tasks on outer planets known as “spacers.” A “spacer” ambassador, who is trying to loosen Earth’s restrictions on robots, is murdered, which forces a detective to pair up with a robot disguised as a human to solve the crime....

True crime programming is nothing new. And over the last few years, fandom for this genre of entertainment has grown tremendously. Given that demand, platforms make gains by taking a risk on true crime programming. Whether it is scripted or reality-based, there is money to be made. Thus, it is no shock for viewers to turn to a streaming platform and find more than a few true-crime series on the docket....

The Pursuit of Happyness filmmaker Gabriele Muccino is in talks to direct Adaline for Summit Entertainment. The drama has seen its fair share of departures, with Katherine Heigl leaving the project in November. Andy Tennant had previously been attached to direct, although it seems he has stepped away from Adaline as well. The story centers on a woman who was born at the start of the 20th Century and, through an unforeseen accident, she becomes immortal....

Fans of The Walking Dead have just one more month to wait for the show’s return. Longtime viewers of the show should be especially excited, as the quality of the writing seems to be on an upswing. Namely, it’s going to be intriguing to see how the storyline plays out with the show’s next major threat in the form of a group called the Whisperers. Straight from the comics, the most disturbing group of psychopaths wearing dead flesh are certainly the most disturbing villains from the Walking Dead universe yet....

Emmy-nominated Animation Domination staple American Dad! has been renewed for a seventh season, bringing the series through the 2012-2013 season, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “This is fantastic news,” said Roger the Alien. “But you do realize I’m not real, right?” American Dad! follows the lives of ultra-conservative, staunch GOP supporter and CIA agent Stan Smith (Seth MacFarlane) and his eccentric family that includes Francine (Wendy Schaal), his ditzy-but-lovable wife; Hayley (Rachael MacFarlane), his 18-year-old left-wing hippie daughter; Steve (Scott Grimes), his geeky, 14-year-old son; Roger (Seth MacFarlane), the selfish and sarcastic cross-dressing space alien; and Klaus (Dee Bradley Baker), an attention-starved goldfish....

It looks like the ninth season of FX and Ryan Murphy’s hit horror anthology series American Horror Story has just snagged its official title and theme for the upcoming season. Murphy himself dropped the news over on Instagram letting the world know that the new season will be called AHS: 1984 and even unveiled a quick teaser trailer for the season which seems to scream out the fact that this new season will be taking on slasher movies....

Production continues in New Zealand on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which marks the return of Andy Serkis, reprising his Gollum role from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Andy Serkis recently revealed that it didn’t take long for him to get back into character. The actor also talked about how doing Gollum’s voice ’thrashed’ his vocal chords in the original trilogy, and revealed his recipe for “Gollum Juice.” “Gollum is never really gone too far away from me because he’s indelibly kind of printed into my DNA now, I think....

Netflix has pulled the plug on Another Life, giving the series a two-season run on the streamer. Along with this bad news for fans comes worth that there won’t be a third season coming to help close out the story, so the finale of the second season now serves as the series finale. Another Life tar Katee Sackhoff confirmed the news by thanking the fans for all of their support with a post to Twitter....

The season premiere of the third season of Barry has officially been announced by HBO. The Emmy award-winning dark comedy featuring co-creator Bill Hader, who plays the titular role as well as writing and directing the series, will return this spring with an eight-episode series. After the conclusion of the second season that ended in May 2019, fans have been anticipating when the third season would arrive. Similar to other shows, the third season began production in March 2020 when it suddenly shut down due to COVID-19....

The hashtag #ThanksBatfleck has been trending on Twitter as fans are showing appreciation for Ben Affleck’s Batman from the DCEU. The hashtag comes shortly after an interview with Affleck where he confirmed that The Flash would be his final appearance as Batman. Affleck made his debut as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, where he duked it out with Henry Cavill’s Superman before uniting at the end. He also appeared in both versions of Justice League, which was the last time we saw him as the Bat....
