After Dark Films, a film production and distribution company and creator of Eight Films to Die For: After Dark Horrorfest, announced that the opening date for psychological thriller/horror film Captivity, starring Elisha Cuthbert and Daniel Gillies, is June 22. On March 29, the controversial film received a one-month suspension of the ratings process from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), due to advertising in Los Angeles and New York that was deemed “inappropriate for public viewing....

Gadot assembled a few of her celebrity friends to sing John Lennon’s “Imagine” after witnessing something similar in Italy, where a trumpeter performed a cover of the song on his balcony. While Gadot still asserts that her intentions were “pure,” her ill-timed and downright cringe-worthy video wasn’t well-received by the internet at the time. Gadot and the other participants in the video, including Pedro Pascal, Kristen Wiig, Mark Ruffalo, Will Ferrell, and Natalie Portman, were slammed for being “tone-deaf” and “out of touch” with the real world....

You can bring home the 1999 Best Picture winner home in a brand new Blu-ray edition this September. American Beauty will be released in a new Sapphire Series Blu-ray on September 21. American Gigolo is the newest Showtime TV series, developed by David Hollander and based on the 1980 film of the same name that starred Richard Gere. A long time in the making, per Variety’s report at the time, the series initially entered development back in 2014 with Jerry Bruckheimer and Paramount involved. In 2016, Showtime picked up the series and later ordered a pilot in 2020, with Hollander serving as showrunner....

The hit Starz series Ash Vs. Evil Dead would normally premiere around this time of the year, but it was confirmed in August that the Ash vs. Evil Dead Season 3 premiere would be delayed, with the show kicking off its new season on February 25, 2018 on Starz. Bruce Campbell has been hitting the road to support his new book, Hail to the Chin, and during a book tour stop in Sacramento the actor called out fans who have been illegally downloading the series, which he hinted may lead to its cancellation....

When it comes to film franchises, there are some filmmakers who have more ambitious plans than others. While some believe the gamble of New Line Cinema on Peter Jackson directing all three Lord of the Rings movies back to back based on his previous work and without any idea whether audiences would get on board any of it is still one of the biggest gambles in Hollywood history, James Cameron is looking to defy all logic with his four planned Avatar sequels being written before he even completes the first of them....

Syfy has released the first trailer for the upcoming pilot Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome, which was shot last month in Vancouver. We still have no official word as to when this spin-off series will air, but you can take a look at the first footage, which takes a page from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trailer. Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war....

Characters in Tarantino’s films like to talk, and they do so in a natural, conversational way that has pretty much changed cinema for the better....

In any story, no matter the genre, the setting plays a fundamental role in crafting a memorable narrative. When regarding romantic comedies especially, there’s something about the location that contributes to both the appeal of where characters go, but at the same time, what they do. Notting Hill is literally named after West London’s district, likely becoming a massive tourist location because of the film’s popularity if it wasn’t already because of its colorful buildings....

Black-ish is officially coming to an end on ABC. On Friday, it was announced by creator Kenya Barris that ABC had ordered an eighth and final season of the award-winning comedy series. In a heartfelt message posted to Instagram, Barris says that the series hasn’t been canceled by the network as the Black-Ish team gets to end the series on their own terms. The creator also looks forward to ending the show properly after the pandemic affected production on season 7....

Even though Mahershala Ali’s voiceover debut in the MCU was a blink-and-you-miss-it moment in the Eternals post-credit scene, which was so obscure that many moviegoers were immediately sent running to their phones to look up who the voice actually belonged to, the new Blade actor revealed that the relatively insignificant moment was one that gave him anxiety and sleepless nights. Fans were left disappointed after the original run of Bleach was hastily concluded with the Fullbringer Arc in 2012. While creator Tite Kubo continued the manga series, fans patiently waited, hoping that they would get to see their favorite substitute “Shinigami” (Soul Reaper) animated again. 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of Boogie Nights’ release. According to Variety, Barry Kemp’s Bungalow 78 Prods. has acquired an untitled comedy script set in the world of NASCAR racing from scribes Jason Jordan and Matthew Lawton. The story centers on a rising NASCAR driver who has been dropped and exiled by his sponsor for bad behavior. He gets a second chance with the only sponsor who will have him: a young cosmetics maven who is looking to expand her brand into the female NASCAR fan base....

As stated by The Hollywood Reporter, Iranian actor Taraneh Alidoosti was arrested by Iranian authorities on Dec. 17. The star was charged with spreading falsehoods related to the nationwide protests that had occurred since Sept. 16, the date when the 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died after being arrested by the morality police, a unit within the Iranian police force. However, THR is now reporting that the star of Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning film, The Salesman, has been released from prison after posting bail....

Great movies tell great stories. Great stories have many moving parts. Sometimes, it remains unnoticed until the movie hits theaters. Other times, it takes a digital release to spot the issue. Either way, plot holes are everywhere. Even the best movies have them. Many of these films are at the top of the industry....

Movie adaptations of your favorite books are always a mix of exciting and worrisome. Will they cast the right person? Is your favorite plot point included? Is it going to hit all the major details? However, sometimes movies just share a name, or take ideas from a book and change it, so it is almost unrecognizable. Unfortunately, it happens a lot more than you might expect.
