Director Phyllis Nagy’s next project is coming soon. The Elizabeth Banks-led Call Jane is set for a wide release in theaters this fall. Fresh off a premiere at Sundance earlier this year, the film tells the story of Joy, a 1960s-era housewife who faces an unwanted pregnancy with nowhere to turn. That is until she finds a collective of women operating underground who fight to give Joy and women like her a choice....

Known for her roles in There’s Something About Mary, The Mask, My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Holiday, Charlie’s Angels, and more, Cameron Diaz, who retired from acting in 2014, says she endured misogyny in Hollywood for years. Appearing on Michelle Visage’s “Rule Breakers” podcast, she told the RuPaul’s Drag Race judge that misogyny was a normal part of the industry in the 1990s and 2000s. “I certainly didn’t do as much as could be done now because of the awareness of everybody, you know, sort of like the #MeToo,” Diaz told Visage on her podcast on International Women’s Day....

There are a couple of interesting casting rumors regarding X-Men Origins: Wolverine over on CHUD. Here they report that Gerard Butler may be appearing as Creed, the man who will become Sabretooth. The source reports that Karl Urban had been in talks to play Creed, but that talks have fallen out, opening the way for Butler to come in. While both Butler and Urban are fine actors, either of whom would work well for the part, one has to wonder why Tyler Mane, who played Sabretooth in Bryan Singer’s X-Men hasn’t been considered for the role....

With her latest move in the aftermath of coming up short in her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, Amber Heard is looking to have the court toss the verdict. Based on an op-ed penned by Heard in 2018, Depp had sued the Aquaman star for defamation, alleging that what his ex-wife had written was false and tarnished his career. Heard countersued and insisted that she was being truthful, arguing that Depp was defaming her by saying that she was the one who’d abused him....

I’ve only been in Los Angeles for about a year and a half but I’ve learned that June in L.A. means two things: the supposed “June gloom” and TV crazyness with Emmy season, with all sorts of events set up around town to showcase certain series’ for those crucial Emmy votes. Last night I was invited to one of these showcases, but it was far from your ordinary event since it was for the tremendously-acclaimed series Battlestar Galactica, a series that many call the best series on television (cable AND network) and a series that even some proclaim the best series of all time....

Actor-comedian Rob Delaney will join the ensemble cast for the upcoming Apple TV+ drama Bad Monkey.
