Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is all geared up for the release of Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. The actor plays David Kane/Black Manta in the sequel, reprising his role from the first movie, which introduced him as the secondary adversary to the titular Justice League member. In the first Aquaman movie, we only got a short glimpse of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II donning the Black Manta costume. The comic book antagonist to the King of Atlantis, David Kane (David Hyde in the comics), makes a deal with Orm/Ocean Master to take revenge for his father’s death on a pirate mission that Aquaman thwarts at the beginning of the movie....

As far as Sam Raimi was concerned, it wasn’t a Spider-Man movie without a special appearance from The Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell. In Raimi’s first Spider-Man film, Campbell played a pro wrestling ring announcer who introduced Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) for his match against Bonesaw McGraw (Randy Savage). Though Peter wanted to be introduced as “The Human Spider,” Campbell instead announced him as “The Amazing Spider-Man.” Obviously, the name would stick, and Peter’s alter-ego was Spider-Man from that point forward....

A full season past the demise of Carl Grimes, fans of The Walking Dead are still mourning the character’s death. As difficult as it was for those watching, however, it stung the hardest for Chandler Riggs and his family. At the time, Chandler’s father, William Riggs, had expressed his disappointment on social media with the creative decision to kill Carl. Riggs later deleted the comments, and in a new post on Facebook, he clarified his controversial comments and explained just how much of a gut punch it was for Riggs to be told that his popular character would be killed off in just a matter of episodes....

It seems that the makers of G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra are decidedly going for an over-the-top tone, and the latest interview with Channing Tatum, who stars as Duke, seems to confirm that. Kathryn Hahn will be getting back into the guise of Agatha Harkness in the next few weeks as she begins filming on the Disney+ series Agatha: Coven of Chaos. New rumors have suggested that the show will one of the more lengthy Marvel offerings to hit Disney+, with a reported episode count of nine, although the episode length has not been mentioned. Many of Marvel’s TV shows have logged in around the six-episode mark, but the recent half-hour She-Hulk episodes pushed that up to nine, which could suggest that Coven of Chaos will also fit the “half-hour comedy” format....

Actress and comedian Amy Schumer has weighed in with her response over what she saw happen live at the Academy Awards on Sunday night. At the awards ceremony, Schumer served as one of three co-hosts alongside Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes. Lionsgate’s plan is to start filming the John Wick spinoff movie, Ballerina, this coming summer. At CinemaCon, the first footage of the anticipated sequel John Wick: Chapter 4 was unveiled, giving fans a look at Keanu Reeves’ titular hitman back at doing what he does best. In the footage, Reeves could be seen taking on two thugs in an art gallery, defeating the both of them with nunchucks in hand....

In recent years, audiences have been seeing more and more deaf characters portrayed in films. At the same time, many of the characters are played by actual deaf actors. It is refreshing to see deaf actors landing these roles and making achievements for the deaf community. Apple TV+, Apple’s new streaming platform, recently released CODA, a film focusing on the only hearing person in a deaf family, and the movie has received much acclaim from critics and audiences alike....

In a story from Variety, Universal Pictures has picked up the movie “rights to the Electronic Arts videogame Army Of Two. Universal hopes “to fast-track the project to begin production in 2009 and has set The Bourne Ultimatum co-writer Scott Z. Burns to write the script.” Selling more than “1 million units since it launched in March” game is “a two-player action contest in which a pair of private military contractors fight their way through a web of intrigue....

Although James Cameron’s new film is four months away, you can already snag your tickets online. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ticket sales for Avatar have already opened up on a few online ticket sites. MovieTickets.com and Fandango.com started selling tickets for Cameron’s new film on Friday, which was dubbed “Avatar Day” which featured hundreds of IMAX theaters showing an extended reel of the film. The sites were selling tickets for midnight screenings in over 75 AMC theaters last week, many of them for IMAX theaters....

Michael Keaton has further teased his Batman return (one of them at least), with the actor sharing an image of himself to Instagram in the batsuit on the set of the upcoming DC movie, Batgirl. Rather than a simple picture of Keaton standing there in the cape and cowl, however, the image instead shows a sight that the criminals of Gotham hope never to see, the silhouette of Batman looming over them....

Benecio Del Toro is set to portray the undercover FBI agent who almost became a made mad in a new film project. Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that Del Toro has signed on to star in Making Jack Falcone. The project reunites Del Toro with Che director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter Peter Buchman. Buchman will write the script for Soderbergh to produce, but it doesn’t seem like he’ll direct the project, since it was said that they are looking for a director....

Benedict Cumberbatch has addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding his acclaimed film, The Power of the Dog. Hollywood veteran Sam Elliott recently ignited a storm, calling the film a “piece of sh*t” and slamming its “allusions to homosexuality.” Elliott also took offense to director Jane Campion, a New Zealand native, making a movie about the American West and filming it outside the U.S.A.
