Sony Pictures Classics announced today that they have acquired all North American rights to Michael Rapaport’s directorial debut, Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest. Rival Pictures and State Street Pictures produced the film, which was in Documentary Competition at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Sony Pictures Classics brokered the deal with The Paradigm Motion Picture Finance Group and Steven C. Beer at Greenberg Traurig. Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest documents the inner workings and behind-the-scenes drama that follow the band, A Tribe Called Quest, even today and explores what’s next for a group many claim are the pioneers of alternative rap....

Shocking and saddening news has just come in as veteran comedian and actor Bob Saget has passed away. Per TMZ, Saget died on Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando in the midst of his latest comedy tour. Sources say the Sheriff’s Department and the fire department responded to the hotel around 4 p.m. after hotel security found Saget in his room. He was pronounced dead on the scene but the circumstances of his passing are not yet clear....

Brian Dennehy will co-star opposite Donnie Wahlberg in TNT’s drama pilot Bunker Hill. According to The Hollywood Reporter, other TV castings include Mather Zickel and Todd Stashwick have been signed for CBS’ comedy pilot The Kareskys. Bunker Hill is from writer Walon Green and director Jon Avnet, and explores crime, corruption and deceit in the Bunker Hill section of Boston and centers on Mike Moriarty (Donnie Wahlberg), who returns to Boston as a cop protecting the streets he grew up on....

Cameron Diaz has come out of retirement to star in Netflix’s Back In Action alongside Jamie Foxx. The action-comedy film marks the actress’ first role since her portrayal of Miss Colleen Hannigan in the 2014 Annie remake. Diaz announced her retirement in 2018. Diaz and Foxx previously worked together on Annie and Oliver Stone’s Any Given Sunday in 1999. Foxx confirmed the news on Twitter, sharing an audio recording of a phone call the actors shared....

Sad news is coming in as Candy Palmater has reportedly passed away. The Canadian actress and comedian, who led The Candy Show and appeared on Trailer Park Boys, died peacefully at her home in Toronto on Christmas Day. A cause of death wasn’t revealed, but her passing was confirmed by her partner and manager, Denise Tompkins. Palmater was 53 years old. “Post by Denise. I have few words.
