With AMC’s Breaking Bad ending its five-season run on Sunday night, fans may not have to wait too long for series creator Vince Gilligan’s next project. CBS has issued a straight-to-series order for the writer-producer’s Battle Creek. The network wouldn’t confirm how many episodes it ordered, but insiders believe that CBS picked up 13 episodes. The series is set in Battle Creek, Michigan, following two detectives with opposing world views. As they try to clean up the streets with dwindling resources, the partners try to decide if deception, cynicism and guile will serve them better than a naive sense of trust in the system....

Japanese auteur Hirokazu Kore-eda delivers another sublime exploration of family’s true meaning. Broker follows a pair of human traffickers, a secretive young mother, her infant son, and tag-along orphan on a meandering road trip to sell the child. The adult characters, who seem despicable and money hungry at first, have complex and deeply personal reasons for their illicit activities. They are surveilled by police partners who slowly understand their quarries’ motivations....

College basketball fans will get new ways to indulge their passion following a deal announced Tuesday between CBS Sports and Apple. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 2006 NCAA men’s basketball tournament games, which are distributed by CBS Corp.’s College Sports TV, will be available in condensed form at Apple’s iTunes Music Store for $1.99 each. All 63 of the foreshortened games also can be purchased as a Season Pass for $19....

Adrien VanViviersen, storyboard artist for such films as Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand and Catwoman has updated his official site with a series of illustrations and storyboards from those movies. He also reveals that he will be doing storyboards for The Incredible Hulk and The Sarah Connor Chronicles. He says that he will have artwork from the made-for-television sequel to the Terminator films shortly after the first of the year, and he promises to have artwork from Incredible Hulk up “later in 2008”....

Although a recent FBI analysis of the gun in the fatal Rust movie set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins last year found that the gun “was in working order at the time and would not have discharged unless it was fully cocked and the trigger was pulled,” Alec Baldwin remains adamant that he never pulled the trigger. The actor spoke out about the tragic accident on a recent episode of The Chris Cuomo Project podcast, maintaining that the prop gun was faulty and fired on its own....

The upcoming American Horror Story anthology spin-off, American Horror Stories, will include stars of the original series. Showrunner Ryan Murphy revealed the new details, along with the first poster on social media late yesterday. In addition to the spin-off details, Murphy also revealed the first poster for the upcoming season 10 of American Horror Story, which started production last month after a lengthy delay. The first poster for American Horror Stories features a pale woman’s face, which is cracking like an egg....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media are moving ahead with a sequel to the wildly successful The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe. Andrew Adamson is set to return to the director’s chair, having just inked a deal to helm The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Adamson also will serve as a producer and co-writer, collaborating with returning scribes Christopher Markus and Steve McFeeley....

A week after reporting that Vertigo will be a primary villain in Arrow, Fringe star Seth Gabel has landed the nefarious role. Our earlier report revealed that the CW Network series plans on overhauling the character, giving him a much darker vibe and even a different name. Producers plan on using the Vertigo name for a deadly new drug that has swept through the streets of Starling City. However, his powers of disorienting his victims will still remain intact....

The 2023 Asian Film Awards revealed that Decision to Leave was the most popular nomination in different categories. At this year’s event, Park Chan-wook’s crime drama Decision to Leave led nominations that included those for best film and best director. First presented in 2007, the AFAs are organized by an academy created by the Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Busan Film Festival, and the Tokyo Film Festival. The movie received several impressive nominations, including Best Screenplay and acting nominations for Park Hae-il and Tang Wei....

Following the cancelation of Batwoman at The CW, fans of the show took the news quite badly and immediately started a campaign to save the show and have the whole Batwoman series moved to HBO Max. This has included social media hashtags across multiple platforms and has even led to a group of fans renting out a billboard to get their point across. As well as attracting attention in the city, the billboard also caught the eye of Batwoman herself, Javicia Leslie, who took to her own Twitter account to acknowledge the fan response to the show’s cancelation....
