Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made a surprise appearance at the ongoing CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, introducing the latest footage from his upcoming DC outing, Black Adam. Coming courtesy of Warner Bros., fans have been waiting for Johnson to suit up as Black Adam for quite some time, with Johnson believing that the long wait has been beneficial to the movie’s development. The Rock also again teased the change in the DC’s hierarchy of power and assured fans that Black Adam will be worth the wait....

According to Deadline, Kenya Barris, the creator of ABC’s Black-ish, is set to write and direct the upcoming Wizard of Oz remake for Warner Bros. Previous reports mentioned Watchmen helmer Nicole Kassell as the film’s director. However, the reason for her departure is unknown. The movie is described as a fresh take on the classic story of Dorothy and her adventure to Oz. L. Frank Baum is the creator of the initial tale, a book titled The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which would see countless spinoffs and reimaginings over the years....

First it is going to raise the price of its Total Access program and now Blockbuster is taking another hit. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, the world’s largest rental chain announced that was closing 282 stores this year. They closed 290 last year. This company decision “comes in the same week that Blockbuster ended its legal dispute with Netflix, settling their lawsuit without going to trial and without disclosing any details....

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE The long awaited Disney sequel, Tron: Legacy, earned around $43.6 million last weekend in its debut. That was a somewhat disappointing opening weekend total when you consider that the film cost around $170 million to make. With three highly anticipated new movies opening this week, just in time for the holidays, including Ben Stiller’s Little Fockers, the Coen Brother’s True Grit and Gulliver’s Travels with Jack Black, it seemed unlikely that Tron: Legacy would be on top of the charts for a second week in a row....

As noted by Buzzfeed News, star Brooke Shields is well-known for having a long-standing career as an actor and model. However, back in 1980, when Shields was just 14 years old, she starred in the film, The Blue Lagoon. The legendary King of Rock and Roll is about to trade in his stage cape for a superhero one. Sony Pictures Animation made a post on their official Twitter account, announcing a new adult animated show with Netflix appropriately called Agent Elvis, along with a colorful poster to commemorate the occasion. The series had previously been titled Agent King when it was first announced. Just in time for the King’s birthday, the announcement comes right on the heels of the immense success and splendor of the biopic film Elvis (2022), which starred Austin Butler along with Tom Hanks....

Allen Covert talks about his new film, Adam Sandler and and his new ‘porno’ film Allen Covert is a name you should become familiar with, if you aren’t already. After several smaller performances alongside his college roommate Adam Sandler, he scored the lead role in Grandma’s Boy (which he co-wrote with the hilarious Nick Swardson) and his latest film is Strange Wilderness, which comes to DVD on May 20. AMC has ordered its first original drama pilot, Mad Men, from Sopranos producer-scribe Matthew Weiner. Variety reports the period drama follows the personal and professional lives of New York advertising execs in the 1960s. Weiner penned the script and exec produces. Alan Taylor (Sopranos, Lost) will direct the pilot to be produced by @radical.media. Production begins next month in New York City; casting is under way. Cabler will greenlight production on at least three one-hour pilots this year with the aim of premiering its first pair of original dramas in 2007....

ABC is bringing back American Idol. The network has closed an agreement with producers FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment, a division of CORE Media Group. Together they will revive television’s most successful and recognized music competition series for the 2017-2018 season, bringing back the fan-favorite and making more dreams come true. Venom 3 has now been confirmed to be in the early stages, and along with the return of Tom Hardy as the titular antihero, Venom: Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis is also hoping for a comeback.
