It has been almost five full decades that Anthony Hopkins has been sober, and reaching another year without going back has the actor hopeful that this accomplishment will serve as an inspiration to others. On Instagram, the Oscar-winning actor posted a video of himself addressing his previous struggles before overcoming addiction. From there, he offers some kind words for his fans, wanting everyone to “be kind” to themselves as well as to others....

Avatar: The Way of Water is preparing to transport audiences into a one-of-a-kind immersive experience yet to be seen in the theater. The sequel, 13 years in the making, will move away from the lush jungles of Pandora, focusing on the underwater life that makes up most of the moon. Avatar displayed a variety of jaw-dropping creatures when the film hit theaters in 2009, and director James Cameron plans to mesmerize audiences once again with his 2022 release....

The last few months have brought plenty of skepticism and doubt over Avatar: The Way of Water’s ability to repeat the success of its 13-year-old predecessor, but the recent re-release of Avatar in theaters last week has seemingly quieted the doubters. Over a decade after its initial release saw it become the biggest movie of all time, Avatar returned to cinemas on Friday with a remastered version that delivered an enhanced version of the film ahead of its sequel’s release, and once again, James Cameron’s sci-fi epic shot straight to the top of the box office....

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now in theaters and marks the sixth live-action appearance of Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular Stephen Strange. When looking at the MCU as a whole, Cumberbatch has actually been part of seven different projects, as he lent his voice to multiple episodes of the animated What If…? series on Disney+. Add in other film roles during that stretch, including one that earned him an Academy Award nomination, and it’s been a busy last few years for the 45-year-old actor....

You would think that being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be a tough gig to top, but for Benedict Cumberbatch, he believes that playing Sherlock was more of a success than Doctor Strange. Cumberbatch returned as the Marvel sorcerer this year in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but despite the continued success of the Marvel franchise the actor still thinks that Sherlock has a greater reach as a TV series....

There is no denying the impact that old American westerns had on movie history. The classic cowboy adventures started a pattern for romance, action, and dialogue that many western films still use. James (Jimmy) Stewart changed the genre almost as much as the genre changed the industry; the traditional ’nice guy’ image he had cultivated in other movies often vanished when he took up a western, playing against type as a very different person....

The opening scene in a movie has a big job. It has to create the tone and feeling of the story, and set the stage for the events that are about to follow. In filmmaking, this is an art form all on its own, but in the sci-fi genre it is especially unique. Opening scenes give an atmosphere to start from, and a kind of undefined promise of what is in store for the audience - action, comedy, drama, and so on....

Since the final season of Better Call Saul was revealed to include a long awaited Breaking Bad crossover, with Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston reprising their roles as Jesse Pinkman and Walter White respectively, fans have been speculating on exactly how their appearance in the Bob Odenkirk-led series would happen. According to showrunner Peter Gould, so far he has not seen anyone come up with the correct way in which they make their debut in the show....

UPDATE: The Rock has responded to these reports to say that he was never following those accounts on Instagram in the first place. It’s starting to seem like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wants to put Black Adam behind him and move forward after the major shakeup that took place at DC Studios. Following the release of Black Adam, which was meant to spawn spinoffs, sequels, and more of Henry Cavill’s Superman, Peter Safran and James Gunn were hired to steer the ship for all DC projects for Warner Bros....

Australian director Robert Connolly’s latest feature is Blueback, an adaptation of the best-selling 1997 novel of the same name by Tim Winton. Having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last month, the film tells the story of a young girl who befriends a wrasse while diving in the sea and becomes an impassioned protector of the oceans. Lavishly shot on location and making hefty use of flashbacks from Abby’s youth and adolescence, initial reviews have been positive, with Connolly’s stylish directing and the accomplished cinematography, as well as individual performances being singled out for praise....

The massive television comic book event, Crisis on Infinite Earths, is almost upon us, and with it comes a variety of alternate versions of our favourite superheroes. One of those is Brandon Routh as Superman, who, having donned the red and blue suit 13 years ago in Superman Returns, gets to once again stand, hands on hips, and declare his love for truth, justice and all that other stuff. If the reactions of his fellow cast members is anything to go by, we are in for something rather super, indeed....

Briana Middleton has been cast in a key role for the upcoming Beauty and the Beast prequel series. The musical TV show is going to focus on Gaston, the villain from the movie, and his sidekick, Le Fou. Both Luke Evans and Josh Gad will be reprising their roles from the film. The Gaston prequel series first came to light in March 2020. Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis will serve as co-writers and co-showrunners....

Bob Berney and Bill Polhad’s new, yet-to-be-named U.S. distribution outfit has acquired all U.S. rights to director Jane Campion’s Bright Star, according to Variety. Set in the early 19th century, Bright Star is based on the true story of the passionate but ill-fated love affair between English Romantic poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne. While the relationship inspired some of Keats’ greatest poetry, the affair was condemned by English society....

Brooklyn Nine-Nine isn’t going anywhere in the new fall season, after having already been canceled once. Fox dropped the show after its fifth season. But NBC swooped in and saved it. And they’ve found much success with the wayward cult comedy. Now, it will be getting a 7th season on the Peacock network. NBC has renewed its critically acclaimed comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine for the 2019-20 season. This will mark the second season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine on NBC and the seventh season the series has been on the air....

Bruce Campbell, original star of the cult horror film, The Evil Dead, was recently interviewed and shed some light on what to expect from Federico Alvarez upcoming The Evil Dead reboot, which he is producing. The actor first addressed how the new project is different from the original one. He goes on to speak about how this rendition will hopefully win fans back after the initial backlash. “There’s none of the original characters....

In a recent interview with Penny Blood, actor Bruce Campbell revealed some details about the ideas being tossed around at Sam Raimi’s camp about the upcoming remake of The Evil Dead. “We don’t really talk about [another] sequel too much ‘cause Sam is too busy right now. It would all be kinda moot. But I think we’re gonna do a remake. It’ll be a whole new story, though. It won’t be with Ash....

Director Bryan Singer is coming back to the franchise he helped create with X-Men: First Class and he recently gave some details about the film. The Los Angeles Times recently spoke with Singer and producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who talked a bit about the new film, although Singer would only shrug when asked if Hugh Jackman would come back as Wolverine. It was also said that Shuler Donner has pitched Singer to come back for a fourth regular X-Men film, although it seems Singer still has to work out scheduling with his Warner Bros....

CBS today announced the 11 Teams set to compete in The Amazing Race 14. The Amazing Race 14 premieres Sunday, Feb. 15 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Phil Keoghan is the host. These contestants will travel one of the most grueling courses ever assembled on the Race - spanning 40,000 miles and nine countries in just 22 days. Teams will be faced with a multitude of extremes, including the world’s second tallest bungee jump, bone-chilling Siberian temperatures followed by the suffocating heat of India, and an Olympic-sized challenge that leaves Teams gasping for air....
