According to The Hollywood Reporter, News Corp. is betting that people will pay $25-$30 to watch Fox films at home in high-definition quality via cable and satellite TV 60 days after their theatrical release. Speaking during the second day of the annual Bear Stearns Media Conference in Palm Beach, Fla., in a session available via webcast, News Corp. president and chief operating officer Peter Chernin said Tuesday the conglomerate has been “talking to the cable operators and satellite operators about the idea of a 60-day, high-priced high-def rental” offer costing $25-$30....

The first 15-minutes of the highly anticipated animated adventure, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, have been unveiled at CinemaCon, giving us a taste of what’s to come when we are thrown back into the madness of the multiverse with Miles Morales. This two-disc new edition of the Disney classic easily beat out two other new releases to take the crown away from last week’s winner Beowulf, which finished third in the sales race. It seems a 1996 superhero film is being sequelized down under. According to Associated Press, a sequel to the 1996 film The Phantom is happening in Australia. The film will be budgeted at $87 million and will center on, “the Father/Son relationship, and what it means to be The Phantom,” screenwriter Tim Boyle said in a statement. “The film will be set in the present day and will deal with the concept of destiny....

ABC Television Network announced fourteen early pick-ups for the 2007-08 season for new breakout series Brothers & Sisters, Men in Trees and Ugly Betty, as well as returning hits The Bachelor, Boston Legal, Dancing with the Stars, Desperate Housewives, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Grey’s Anatomy, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Lost. The announcement was made by ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson at the March Development Meeting in Los Angeles. These series join previously announced America’s Funniest Home Videos, Supernanny and Wife Swap, which have also been renewed for the 2007-08 season....

Starz has released a Twitter promo for Ash Vs.
