PREDICTED WEEKEND BOX OFFICE Tyler Perry is poised to be the big man on campus this weekend with his latest Madea offering, Madea’s Big Happy Family, projected to pull in about $30 million. The last two films in the series featuring the popular character opened to $30 million and $41 million so this should be on par with those debuts. He’ll face a bit of competition from Rio, last week’s champ....
PREDICTED WEEKEND BOX OFFICE Looks like the weekend is Thor’s to lose. The Nordic god seems to be tracking for a $60-$70 million opening. It could have perhaps done a bit better if the Universal mega-hit Fast Five wasn’t presenting stiff competition at the box office for the fan boy crowd. So far reviews seem pretty positive for this action adventure. Fast Five should rake in somewhere between $38-40 million....
Classic television actress Bridget Hanley has passed away. Hanley, who may be best known for her role as the wholesome Candy Pruitt on the ABC series Here Come the Brides in the late 60s and early 70s, reportedly died on Wednesday after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The actress had been living at the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills. She was 80 years old....
The Triangle, an epic, 6-hour miniseries co-produced by SCI FI Channel, Electric Entertainment and Bad Hat Harry Productions, will premiere in December 2005 airing over three nights, it was announced today by Bonnie Hammer, President of USA Network and SCI FI Channel. The film, executive produced by Hollywood’s genre standouts Bryan Singer (“X-Men”, “Superman Returns”), Dean Devlin (“Independence Day”), and Rockne S. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carmike Cinemas has announced its “Stimulus Tuesday’s’ program that will be launched in all 250 locations and 2,300 screens next week. The theater chain will be selling 16-ounce sodas or 46-ounce popcorns for only $1 apiece on Tuesday’s. The chain said it was the lowest price popcorn and soda will be offered at since the 70s....
