BET wants to be known as the King Kong of cable networks, as it announced its original programming for the upcoming season. Variety reports that eight original shows will premiere on the channel this fall, including several that go behind the scenes in the lives of celebrities or up-and-coming stars. Next Level: Vince Young follows the NFL rookie-to-be as he prepares for the football season; Star Time Keyshia Cole charts the public and private successes of the young thrush; and, perhaps most surprising, DMX: Soul of a Man pledges to reveal a caring and concerned side to the hardcore rapper that some never knew existed....

Embattled comedian Bill Cosby isn’t over his legal woes just yet. While he was released from prison earlier than expected when his conviction for a 2004 sexual assault case was overturned, the Ghost Dad star’s attorneys are stepping back into a courtroom on Wednesday to represent him for a civil trial related to another alleged assault. The alleged victim in this case, Judy Huth, claims Cosby sexually assaulted her at a Playboy Mansion party in 1975....

Although Dwayne Johnson is frequently seen beating up bad guys in his blockbuster movies, the actor has found himself a place in a number of family-friendly roles and that is where he wanted Black Adam to sit. According to the movie’s editor, Johnson was in fact the only reason that Black Adam did not join the small but growing number of R-rated DC offerings. During the production of Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson frequently talked about the movie pushing the boundaries of what could be included in a PG-13 release, and the high body count logged in the movie did suggest that the brutal anti-hero could be heading for a higher rating....

20th Century Fox has secured the movie rights for the upcoming novel trilogy Black Is the Color, by 24-year-old author Alexandra Bracken. The series centers around a teenage girl named Ruby who has developed telekinetic powers beyond her control. She meets up with another group of teens with super abilities, who are trying to flee from the government. Here’s a snyopsis of the series from the author’s official website. Shawn Levy will produce Black Is the Color through his 21 Laps production company along with Billy Rosenberg and Missy Foster....

Black Widow is a beloved character in the MCU and was first woman Avenger to be featured in the franchise. She has appeared in multiple MCU movies beginning in 2010’s Iron Man 2, when Scarlett Johansson won the role of Natasha Romanoff, a role she would reprise multiple times throughout her tenure with the MCU. 2021 saw the release of Black Widow, Johansson’s first and only solo film for her character, which was bittersweet for fans....

In a time when nostalgic comebacks are big business, The Walt Disney Company has pulled its own Top Gun: Maverick moment with the unexpected announcement that Bob Iger will be returning to the company as CEO. Bob Chapek will leave his post with immediate effect. Iger originally ended his 15-year stint as CEO in early 2020 but after just two years in retirement, he is now back to replace the beleaguered Chapek in the top job at the House of Mouse....

Did you miss Body of Lies in theaters last Friday? Well, listen up all of you Mike Patton and System of a Down fans, Ipecac has alerted us to the fact that the recently released Ridley Scott film contains a theme song entitled Bird’s Eye that was composed by world famous film scorer Marc Streitenfeld with the collaborative help of both Patton and Serj Tankian. The song can be heard during the film’s end credit sequence, and contains new lyrics sung by vocalist extraordinaire Mike Patton....

PREDICTED WEEKEND BOX OFFICE There’s just one week left to go before the summer movie season officially kicks off with the highly anticipated release of Iron Man 2. There’s really only one new film that is sure to make a slash at the box office this weekend and that’s director Samuel Bayer’s re-imagining of the classic 1984 horror film A Nightmare On Elm Street. Pulp Fiction stars and fellow Hollywood icons Bruce Willis and John Travolta reunite in the newly released trailer for the action outing, Paradise City. Released courtesy of Saban Films, Paradise City finds Willis and Travolta doing what fans love, wielding guns and exchanging in witty dialogue, with the former starring as a bounty hunter with the latter starring as a ruthless power broker. Sometimes you’ve just gotta Hail to the King! In a story from Fangoria, it looks like the Bubba Ho-Tep: Hail to the King Edition will come to DVD August 7 from MGM and Fox Home Entertainment. Synopsis: Based on the Bram Stoker Award nominee short story by acclaimed author Joe R. Lansdale, Bubba Ho-tep tells the “true” story of what really did become of Elvis Presley. We find Elvis (Bruce Campbell) as an elderly resident in an East Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his “death,” then missed his chance to switch back....

Obsessed With Film has found out that the superhero team-up movie, FIAvHGAE1U3gDI has begun casting. The Warner Bros. film is reported to include Batman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and the Green Lantern. According to the site: Warner Bros have hired casting directors Susan Shopmaker (The Holiday, Mean Girls), Michelle Allen (TV’s sadly cancelled Dead Like Me) and RDC Casting (The Shipping News) in New York, Vancouver and Toronto, respectively, to cast the Justice League movie....

As Nicole Kidman is being mostly praised for her portrayal of Lucille Ball in Being The Ricardos, fellow Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett is opening up about her decision to decline the role in the movie. While it would seem that someone of Blanchett’s credentials would have been more than capable of giving an excellent performance as the iconic comedy star, in a recent interview with Variety she touched on the subject, conceding that in the end the movie became what “it needed to be” without her involvement....

The stab-happy adventures of Ghostface will continue in the upcoming Scream 6, and while details of the horror sequel remain largely unknown, some semblance of the plot has now been unveiled. In a report by The Hollywood Reporter, it has now been revealed that Scream 6 “continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.” While the details are brief, it is likely then that Scream 6 will follow the four confirmed cast members, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown, as they pack up and leave Woodsboro in the hopes of beginning anew....

The Good A hilarious show that is and isn’t everything you think it is. The Bad I really wish that Brad Garrett had done some commentary tracks on this release. ‘Til Death: The Complete First Season gives us Eddie (Brad Garrett) and Joy Stark (Joely Fisher). They have been married for some time and they know it, yet the spark is still there to a certain degree. Moving in next to them are Jeff (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and his wife Steph Woodcock (Kat Foster)....

Pilot episodes aren’t always the best predictor of a show’s later tone and focus, and the largely episodic nature of hit animated sitcom Rick and Morty makes it possible for viewers to enjoy most episodes as stand-alone adventures.
