Spoiler Warning: The Morning Show Season 1 and 2

Apple TV+’s The Morning Show has been renewed for a third season even though the Emmy-award-winning drama was initially picked up for only two seasons. This time, however, we will see the addition of Charlotte Stoudt as the new showrunner. Stoudt is known for writing award-winning shows like Homeland, Fosse/Verdon, and House of Cards. She will be replacing Kerry Ehrin, who will continue to stick around The Morning Show as a consultant, as reported by Variety.

In the interview, Charlotte Stoudt goes on to say:

Now that we have confirmation about another season, let’s see what to expect from the upcoming The Morning Show season 3.

Possible Season 3 Storyline

In the second season finale, we saw that The Morning Show addressed a number of different issues other than workplace relationships, which was the central theme of the first season. The second season saw the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. We watched a very different Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) in the season finale, who was very different from the one we saw in season one. We saw how headstrong she was to ensure she controlled her own narrative. Now, whether she is successful or not will most likely be the core story in the third season.

In another interview with Deadline, former showrunner Kerry Ehrin hints that The Morning Show season 3 could offer a happier storyline for Alex Levy, which clearly wasn’t the case in season 2. “I feel like Alex has come to a place for the first time since the pilot of accepting who she is and facing her worst fears, and I want to see how the phoenix rises from the ashes for her and learning how to have a full life and be present and loving,” she said.

In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ehrin goes on to say about Aniston’s character, “a part of the character of Alex that I always imagined is that she had a public self and she had a private self, and they were very much apart. Her whole arc is about getting those two pieces together to create a whole that is authentic.”

The season 2 finale also witnesses Cory (Billy Crudup) coming out of nowhere and confessing his love for Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) while searching for her brother, who is admitted to the hospital after getting beaten up by some men. Speaking of Bradley, she is officially in a relationship with Laura Peterson (Julianna Margulies), thus making an interesting love triangle for the upcoming season.

Another storyline that will definitely be picked up from the second season is Mitch’s (Steve Carell) jaw-dropping documentary, the one in which he sat down with Paola (Valeria Golino) in Italy. Since it’s in Cory’s hands to show the documentary to the world, there’s absolutely no telling which side he’s leaning towards, considering his character has been so unpredictable in the last two seasons. We don’t expect any better from the third season either, but that’s what makes his character so unique.

While most of this is speculation, Ehrin did hint that there could be a small “time jump” for the third season before heading into the next chapter. She says:

Who Do We Expect to See in Season 3?

Most of the regulars from the first and second seasons will also reprise their roles in The Morning Show season 3. Among them, we’ll be seeing Jennifer Aniston (Alex Levy), Reese Witherspoon (Bradley Jackson), Mark Duplass (Chip Black), Billy Crudup (Cory Ellison), Nestor Carbonell (Yanko Flores), Greta Lee (Stella Bak), Julianna Margulies (Laura Peterson), Karen Pittman (Mia Jordan), Janina Gavankar (Alison Namazi), and Desean Terry (Daniel Henderson). Considering Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell) passed away in a car accident in the second season, we wouldn’t be too sure whether we will be seeing him in the third season.
