Stranger Things season 4 has finally arrived on Netflix, and with more episodes come new 1980s references. At the time, “Weird Al” Yankovic was making a big splash in the music scene with his song parodies. Of course, the show has previously established that Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) is a big fan of Yankovic as he’d previously worn a T-shirt featuring the “Nature Trail to Hell” singer in season 3. And wearing that shirt had apparently left an impact on the other characters.
In season 4, there’s a scene with Dustin and Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) speaking with Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). During their conversation, Eddie addresses Dustin and says, “You were wearing a ‘Weird Al’ T-shirt, which I thought was brave.” After the season premiered, Yankovic took to Twitter to share a video clip of the scene while adding the hashtags #Brave and #StrangerThings.

This isn’t the only link between Yankovic and Stranger Things. His classic parody “My Balogna,” which spoofed the Knack’s hit song “My Sharona,” was also included on the Stranger Things season 3 soundtrack.
The new season is split into two halves, with the first volume debuting on May 27. The second half of the season 4 will follow with a streaming debut on July 1, 2022. In the fourth season of Stranger Things:
A “Weird Al” Biopic Is Coming Soon

Fans of “Weird Al” will also have something else special to look forward to. It has been announced that a new comedy biopic is in the works about the parodist dubbed Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame plays Yankovic in a biopic that appears to spoof other musician biopics, as it will feature an exaggerated version of Yankovic. The film will be set in the 1980s back when the singer had his classic frames and mustache, and Radcliffe certainly looks the part in the new trailer and sneak peek images.
Yankovic wrote the script for the film with Eric Appel. The movie also features Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento, Toby Huss as Yankovic’s father Nick, Julianne Nicholson as mother Mary, and James Preston Rogers as Hulk Hogan.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story doesn’t have an official release date just yet but it will debut on The Roku Channel. It is expected to arrive in late 2022.
